Over the weekend we traveled to Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in Oklahoma to race with K.A.R.T. in the National Championships!
Friday was all-day practice and Gavin went out for every single session. Dad told him we had the kart dialed in and he could take a break but nope, back out. This kid just loves to race; whether he’s racing alone, in the rain, in the scorching hot temps, he just wants to be on that track going fast.
Saturday we dealt with some on and off rain during practice but ultimately got perfect weather to hit the track for the race. Gavin was able to take the lead off the start line and maintain it throughout the 30-minute race, winning his very first Triad! At the awards ceremony, Gavin gave a shout out dedicating his race to David Gharst; I even got that on video. 🥰🏁🥇
Sunday the rain stayed away so we were able to have dry practices and beautiful weather again for the race. Once again, Gavin took the lead off the start and maintained it the whole race earning his 2nd Triad and “Expert” status for KART! He even managed to beat his top speed at Hallett with 68 mph! 🏎️🥇🏁
