Only a few more weeks to enjoy the “Caribbean of Kentucky”, officially known as Pennyrile Beach, before it shuts down for the season! Tucked inside Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park near Dawson Springs, this sandy beach sits along beautiful 56-acre Pennyrile Lake, where the calm green water makes a great place to swim on a hot summer day. The beach is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Labor Day, September 7, this year, so there’s still time to spread out on the sand, play beach volleyball, or let the kids splash along the shoreline. Motorboats are restricted on Pennyrile Lake, helping keep it peaceful for paddling, and the park rents canoes, kayaks, pedal boats, and rowboats seasonally. Beyond the beach, you can hike wooded trails, fish, play mini golf, swim in the pool, or make a weekend of it. The park also has an 18-hole golf course and a lodge with a full-service dining room.
