IN 12 years since seen last, only 1060 miles.... and look at that production date on the tire, 41st week of 2007, 19 years old, nearly triple what any manufacturer recommends as "useable life"

and yes those brakes actually had the masters rebuilt 12 years ago, so even just sitting in a dry garage, the brake fluid goes bad!

brakes are very important, especially the fronts!uggg.... need some smell-o-vison, as it even smelled bad

Customer states......

Do you have tires for my motorcycle?

I will spare you the long back and forth after that before it finally arrived an hour late....

He informed me it had been "so long since I have owned a motorcycle, but now I do".....

1) why isn't the bearing shielded and sealed??? uggg (it wasn't my first clue this was going to be terrible to "just install 2 new tires")
2) the bike barely steers!!! I mean it takes great effort to force the handlebars to turn, someone cranked so much steering head bearing preload in, I had to back off the nut a full turn to get it to feel even driveable! but of course now you feel the notch in the center where they are worn and need replacing
3) The front brakes. herculean efforts to squeeze but the result is only about 25% front brake application.. NOT SAFE TO RIDE, at best he has maybe 50% total brake between front and rear, means exceedingly long stopping distances...
4) oh the rusty crusties. of course the bolt snapped off, the axles needed pounding out with a brass drift and the caliper bolts needed the wire wheel (torch, l**e and the luck of having 3 protruding threads to grab onto, got the bottom half of the bolt out

It returns on the 15th for front brake rebuild and new steering head bearings......... as if my month was not already over booked enough.......

This is another example of a rusty crusty abused and neglected bike. I sure hope he got it for next to nothing, because that is what it was worth in the condition he received it!
and don't sellers feel any duty to inform a new buyer of some of the needs and features, like even to know where the sight glass is to check the oil level, or the dipstick on some bikes.
This seller should be ashamed of himself!

Customer states......

Hey you just adjusted my chain last spring when you installed tires. I don't understand why I have to keep adjusting it and it keeps falling off.........

Well last spring I did say it was rusty and near end of life and maybe you could squeeze 1000 maybe 2000 miles out of it to give you time to get funds to pay for a new chain and sprocket set....

look at this, 4500 miles later......\:

broken teeth, hooked teeth, rusty chain and no lubrication plus it sits outside 24/7/300, no wonder it is a rusty pile.......

METRIC!!!!! 24mm/17mm axle and 14mm adjuster and 12mm lock nut and 12mm brake torque arm bolt needs to be loosened too when adjusting! ..... quit using SAE sizes and rounding these over.....

Some people should not own tools, and many should not own motorcycles either. They are a luxury item, not an economy item!

Come on Harley, do better!

Master cylinder reservoirs should sit parallel to the ground!
Slave cylinder bleeders should be accessible without an hours work to access it!
.... yes I know other manufacturers do this stupid bs too. and this is far less stupid than the GL1800 air filter you can't access and replace in under a few hours, but...

basic routine maintenance items should be accessible and relatively easy to access and do the maintenance on!

but the way, this fluid is horrifically bad! more than 4% water content and I do not even know what is floating on top of it, let alone it is too low of level, it occassionally was sucking air for the owner and he was losing his clutch, then it would mysteriously come back (as pictured, the bike is sitting straight up and down with front wheel pointing forward as it would be when riding in a straightline!................
to actually fill it properly, the bike needs to be leaned to the right (as if it had a right side side stand) and the bars turned right, then and only then is the master cylinder nearly level and able to be filled......dumb engineering and planning! DO BETTER!

How to properly lubricate your chain;
~do it when the chain is hot
~allow it a good 8-12 hours minimum for the propellants to evaporate off (if using an aerosol spray l**e)
~and l**e the rollers, the rest of the chain just needs something to keep it from rusting!

If the chain looks like pic 3, it is junk and cannot be salvaged

and batteries......... keep the connections clean and keep them tight! arcing off the post is never a good thing

neglect and abuse is a shame...... It can be fixed, but it isn't cheap!
