TTM - TECH TALK - after going from the Visconti FF kit (pre greenspeed) to the next-gen canbus friendly FF kit, the zeitronix ECA no longer worked as it previously tapped directly into the old sensor, so doing a little homework, reaching out to both AIM and CSG, CSG does provide a DBC file where the ethanol content is now available as a readout, and with the help from AIM, they were able to merge the aftermarket CAN protocol + the factory “Toyota 86” protocol, allowing me to still see things that matter, like ECT, oil temps, etc! The latest firmware of race studios allows users to merge protocols on their own! Pretty cool stuff! Nice to be able to have an ethanol content readout on my AIM! Next up, for whatever reason the innovate motorsports boost gauge has stopped reading, and I wanted to see if there was a way to display “boost” since I know AIM has custom math channels, where you can have any existing measures do simple functions. Well we all know boost = MAP minus Barometric pressure right?? Fortunately through the CAN, the car has both of those available, i created a math channel and named it BST with PSI as the readout, and viola! If your car doesn’t have barometric pressure available, you could do a static number like 14.7 psi instead which is the 0 sea level pressure. Hope this was educational!
