SUMMER THUNDER EVENT AT BYRON DRAGWAY CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER FORECAST

Byron, Ill. - July 29, 2026 - Byron Dragway, in partnership with Funny Car Chaos and the Nostalgia Drag Racing League (NDRL), regrets to announce the cancellation of the Summer Thunder special event, originally scheduled for Friday, July 31, and Saturday, August 1, 2026.

With significant rainfall and persistent wet conditions predicted throughout the weekend, track officials and series organizers made the difficult joint decision to cancel the event.

"This is not a decision we take lightly," said track officials. "A tremendous amount of work goes into preparing for an event of this scale, but the unfavorable weather forecast prevents us from putting on an event to the standard that racers and race fans expect. We are deeply grateful to our partners at Funny Car Chaos and the NDRL for their collaboration and look forward to working together in the future as we plan for the 2027 season.”

Sunday, August 2nd Schedule Update: While Summer Thunder is canceled for Friday and Saturday, Sunday’s originally scheduled Test & Tune remains on as planned, weather and condition permitting.

Mid season - out with the old and in with the new CP-Carrillo pistons! These past few weekends we have been preparing and maintencing several parts to get ready for the hussle and bussle of the latter half of the race season! Byron Dragway we will see you July 31st!

Well unfortunately went out 2nd round but was able to put down a solid 3.75 ET. Not the outcome we hoped of course, but that's racing! As we are making our way back home, we want to thank everyone for their continued support and messages throughout race weekends!

While we are on the journey now to Great Lakes Dragaway we wanted to thank Barry at Noonan Race Engineering for getting this head out to us so quickly so we could make the Funny Car Chaos race this weekend!
