We got axles! 15” axles specifically. Carter fuel pump is installed as well. Yes, that transaxle says 3.44 R&P. We’re running 22.8” diameter rear tires. 🤯

Motor goes in today. I’ve been waiting 8 years to make time for myself. Let’s go.
Can we drive it by this weekend? 🤷🏻‍♂️

New Motor & New Speedo - Yes please!
This Speedhut speedometer is starting to grow on me.

This is over at the upholstery shop getting some new threads. We had the privilege of cruising this around last week for a shake-down run.

The Rear Math 🤯

1.5” narrowed torsion housing per side (not pictured)
however IRS arms are mounted on the outside of the spring plate now. This is a net gain of only 3/4” narrow per side.

Modified 944 IRS arms
Arms are flipped, then
2” drop x 1.5” narrowed box end
1” narrowed bushing end (for narrowed torsion housing)

Barndoor bus size torsion bars (new) 554mm x 30mm
15” axles on 100mm CV’s and beetle IRS transmission.
944 Disc Brakes, notched frame, torsion housing clearanced
Rearward mounted shocks
15x8” rear Fuchs wearing 245/40r15 shoes.

1.5” narrowed housing
1.5” narrowed arm
+22mm wider brakes.
We are effectively 2-1/8” narrowed per side in the rear.

How much did we lower it? About a foot. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Extremely overworked for the last 6 months, and rocking a serious head cold all week… I turned off my phone and decided to spend a few days on myself. (I make no apologies for the inconvenience)

My personal 15w bus is about 5 days away from driver status.
8 years to get this point, at a pace of 5-7 days a year. 🤯
I almost never make time for myself, this business is so grueling.

We’re gonna stuff this 1600 engine in here soon.
It’s our test motor for dialing in suspensions. The rear suspension design is complete, however ugly with some black rattle can. When I’m satisfied that we’re not making any more changes, we will blow it all apart in 6 months and detail it out.
About to bolt up our 15” axles on Type 2/944/100mm CV joints.

15x8” rear Fuchs (245/40r15) sit 1/4” off of the inner fender wall, at full compressed suspension. This pig is static and dirty and begs to be driven.
