What's going on here?

Sorry for the choppy video, but we did want to make sure these guys got all the love. Josh posted that he needed some glass work done on his personal vehicle.

We went down and took a look.

To start, we always enjoy working with small businesses. And, it's not often that you run across a small business, who's owner, and team are just great guys. We look forward to more projects with these guys and generally being part of their success.

While browsing Instagram, we came across another company with a logo very similar to ours.

We have been considering changing the logo anyhow, so there was no need to raise a fuss.

We chose local for our logo and marketing work with A Inspiration. While we are still working on the final logo, we wanted to do a little limited release for the winter months here in Florida. We know we're super fortunate here in the state, we can essentially boat, race, and do pretty much all of our hobbies year round.

And I'm nostalgic. It's the 90's Miami Vice and Vanilla Ice are a thing and I'm a kid that's just dipped his toe into the world of customs.

So, the 2023 winter edition logo is born.

Hurricane Idalia Temporarily Shut Our Small Business Down; Now We Are Back!

It was a devastating blow when hit our small business, JM Customs, in August. The storm caused extensive damage to our home, which is also the hub for our business, leaving us unable to operate for several weeks. The damage was so extensive we were forced out of our home, and our family was facing permanent relocation. It was a challenging time for us, but we refused to let it be the end of our entrepreneurial journey.

As the hurricane made landfall, we watched helplessly as, not only our home, but also our dreams and hard work were swept away. The destruction was overwhelming, and it seemed impossible to recover. However, we quickly realized that giving up was not an option. We gathered our strength, rallied our team, and began the journey to rebuilding.

Throughout the entire process, we hare grateful for the communication we shared with our loyal customers, Your support and encouragement were invaluable during this difficult time. We also utilized social media platforms to share our journey, connect with our community, and garner additional support.

After weeks of hard work and perseverance, we are thrilled to announce that JM Customs is back up and running! As we move forward, we are more determined than ever to make our business thrive. We have learned valuable lessons from the experience and have implemented strategies to mitigate future risks. Our team is stronger and more resilient, ready to face any challenges that may come our way.

Hurricane Idalia may have temporarily shut our small business down, but it did not break our spirit. We are back, and we are here to stay. Our journey is a testament to the power of perseverance, community support, and the indomitable spirit of entrepreneurship.

Weathering the Storm:

When hurricanes and supermoon tides loom, it becomes crucial for boat owners and dock operators to take necessary precautions to secure vessels. Storm surge from hurricanes alone is a lot to deal with. Combine that with the high winds and high rain potential, hurricane preparation can be down right daunting.

And then, nature throws you another curve ball. Super moons. These moons are named such because of how large they appear in the night sky. The appearance of the larger moon is due to it's close proximity to us here on earth. While, the supermoom is a sight to see, they bring higher tides.

So, what do you do when you have a much higher than usual tide and storm surge? Prepare. As best you can. Obviously, if possible removing your vessel and storing it on the hard inland is ideal. And, not practical for some. Especially large vessels.

Preparedness looks like a lot of things. Especially if you dock your vessel and it's full time home is in the water. This is where making sure your primary systems are functional, engines in proper running order etc. You'll also want to make sure that you have plenty of dock lines, and they are in operable condition. Do YOU know how to properly secure your boat for a storm? These are all keys to weathering the storm.
