New tires Hello and good day, I reciently purchased new tires from your company. This is how it all started. I Purchased a used vehicle from a local dealer, the vehicle had two brand new Thunderer CUV tires on it (still had the vent spews on them) The other two tires where a different brand and were A/Ts with a bit of wear on them (cupped and roaring). I decided since the Thunderers were brand new and I liked the look of them, I would check into purchasing two more to match. I like my tires to match anyway, and the reviews on these tires were really good. I had a bit of trouble finding them in my area, but was finally able to work through my local tire shop, and them through their distributor, to have some delivered in. After the install I noticed a wining noise from the new tires. The tires ride great and handle perfectly, but have a bad wine/howl noise to them. I am a certified mechanic that owns my own business and was Service manager at a new car dealer before starting my own business. I checked the car out for any other issues that might be causing the noise, and for sure, it’s the tires. The local tire shop agreed. I didn’t want to bother my local tire shop with the problem, because they only did what I asked in finding the two matching tires. Well, I understand that that is the normal way to handle things, so they got involved. No problem with warranting the two tires purchased through them, but the other two that I already had, there seems to be an issue. No paper trail. We got a Thunderer rep. involved and he says his hands are tired and can replace the two we have paperwork on, but I’m stuck with the other two. I checked with the used car dealer and he can’t supply a paper trail either. Here is the real surprise to me. The two tires with the paper trail are almost three years old and the two without, are around two years old, I did not know this at the time of purchase, all brand new tires though, put into service only a month ago. I find it hard to believe that something can't be worked out, I realize I did not purchase two of the tires directly, but they are for sure your companies tires and they were obviously new (at least new and that they had never been run) We moved the tires around and the noise stays the same and sounds to be coming from all four. I see no need to replacing two tires and leaving the other two still on the car to continue to howl. We had a trip planned out West and I hoped they would quiet down after they got “worn in” but they did not. We put around 3500 miles on the tires on our trip and have probably put another 500 miles on them just running around. They sound the same as in the beginning. Again, they ride and handle great, no complaints there, but the smoother the surface, the worse they howl. Please help me with this, I can’t afford to not get the normal life out of these tires, so I will have to run them for the next several years. The howl can be pretty bad at times and it would be nice if I had quiet ones on all four corners. Surely there is something that can be done. Sincerely, Casey Stockman
