When a shop owner tells you at the interview, "You better have snap-on tools, none of that craftsman crap."

I ask myself "How do I afford $700 wrench sets and $600 dollar socket sets when you're only offering $600 a week before tax?"

Most of the time they say things like:

"Obviously there's something wrong with you."

"That's not my problem."

or my personal favorite...

"It's your own fault you can't manage your money better to afford tools."

In the end, it's not about quality techs, it's about what makes the shop money; yes there's a difference.

Image, style and looks; that's the name of the game for most. It's not just automotive, it's everywhere.

As long as people look legit, even though they're not.
As long as it sounds like they know what they're talking about, even though they don't.
