Today was certainly a Monday. On my way to my second job for the day, a gentleman crossing the Buchman Bridge in the Northbound direction hit the GIANT metal plates in the left two lanes that caused his boat trailer to detach from his truck. Luckily, I was behind him and was able to stop traffic and use my cones to close the lane until FHP and Road Rangers arrived. Poor guy was having a rough go for sure.

🚨🚨🚨UPDATE🚨🚨🚨

I want to say thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for everyone that has shared, donated, offered advice, offered help, and sent up prayers!

The family in need is receiving an outpouring of love from the community, and I cannot tell you all how much I sincerely appreciate that.

Hubbard Electrical Contracting, LLC has graciously offered to donate materials and permitting to complete the necessary repairs for the electrical issues in their home. All we need now, is a legitimate, licensed electrician to perform the work. I have a few people that have electrician contacts, that we are waiting to hear back from. I do not expect anyone to work for free, so I will do my best to figure out how to pay for the electrician's labor to do the work.

The Lord has blessed them today, but they are not out of the water yet. Please continue to pray, and if it is on your heart to donate, please do so. They could use all of the help they can get. They are deeply grateful and appreciative for all of the help they are receiving from you all. Let's not stop! Let's show them that people care, and are willing to help! This is not one of my usual posts... But God has put it very heavy on my heart to try and help this family as much as I possibly can. This will be a long read, so please be patient.

I have a customer (family) that has become very close to me over my 4 years in business. They have always used me for their repairs, always pay whatever the price is for repairs, and never complain at all. They ALWAYS tip me VERY WELL, even when I argue and insist that I don't want any tips. For that, I try to help them out on price, and do some jobs completely free to show my appreciation.

Currently, the husband has been in the hospital with an infectious disease for over a month, and the wife is home with her own health complications. On Tuesday, the wife tried to drive to the hospital to visit her husband, and the brakes went out on their truck. They reached out to me to take a look at the truck, and thats when I learned of the husband being in the hospital for over a month. I was not initially aware of all of the issues that they're going through, but I planned on repairing the brakes out of pocket, regardless of the cost because they have been so generous to me and they honestly just need a break.

This morning, their son (who just got out of ICU himself), reached out to me to let me know that they are having other issues and that they were not going to have me take a look at the truck due to needing to focus finances in other areas. They were not aware that I was going to be doing it for free, I wanted it to be a surprise. This morning's conversation is what led me to making this post.

They are an elderly couple, with health complications and are on a very tight, fixed income. Over the last few years, they seem to be going through one hardship after the other, with no end in sight. Vehicles breaking down, having to have a new well drilled for their home to have water, numerous health issues, having to have appliances replaced left and right, a house fire a few months ago caused my electrical issues, and now having the same electrical issues and having to run off of generators and only able to run a few breakers to try and survive.

Simply put, THEY NEED HELP. I am still planning on taking care of the brakes in their truck today completely free of charge. But, unfortunately, I am not an electrician and cannot help in that area with their home. They currently need to have the electrical panel and wiring updated in their home so that they can have power. Do I have any electricians or companies that handle electrical on my page that can help? I have no idea how I am going to afford it, but I will help pay as much as I can to get them taken care of. In the meantime, they're still on a very tight, fixed income and could definitely use the help financially to recover from all of the hospital visits and the constant unknowns that they keep getting hit with.

Battery tests are more important than most people realize.

Just because a car starts doesn’t mean the battery is healthy.

A proper battery test checks more than voltage—it measures the battery’s ability to deliver power under load. That’s where weak batteries get exposed.

Why this matters:

• A failing battery can leave you stranded with no warning
• It can cause slow cranking and hard starts
• Weak batteries put extra strain on your starter and alternator
• Can trigger random electrical issues and warning lights

I see it all the time—people replace starters or alternators when the real problem was a weak battery.

A quick test can save you from guessing and throwing parts at the car.

Have your battery checked with every service. Its best to be in the know, and catch it before it leaves you stranded.

Oil in your spark plug tubes? That’s not something to ignore.

This usually happens when the valve cover gasket or the spark plug tube seals start to fail. Over time, heat and age cause those seals to harden and crack, allowing oil to leak down into the plug wells.

Why that’s a problem:

• Oil can soak the ignition coils and cause misfires
• Weak or inconsistent spark = rough idle and poor performance
• Can trigger check engine lights
• Left too long, it can damage coils and plugs—turning a small repair into a bigger one

This isn’t an “it’ll fix itself” situation. The leak will continue until the seals are replaced.

The good news—it’s usually straightforward to fix if caught early.

If your engine is misfiring or you’ve noticed oil around your spark plugs, it’s worth getting it checked out before it gets worse.

Metal shavings in your VVT solenoid screen are a big red flag 🚩

That screen is there to catch debris before it gets into the solenoid and affects oil flow. When it starts filling up with metal, a few things happen:

• Oil flow to the VVT system gets restricted
• Timing can’t adjust properly
• Engine performance drops (rough idle, loss of power, poor fuel economy)
• You may start seeing check engine lights for cam/crank correlation

But the bigger issue—metal shavings usually mean internal engine wear somewhere (timing components, camshaft, or other moving parts).

Cleaning the screen might help temporarily, but if the source isn’t addressed, the problem will come right back—and often worse.

If your vehicle is throwing timing-related codes or running rough, it’s worth getting it properly diagnosed before it turns into a major repair.
