November 9, 2017, we told you that WFC XII would remain the same as WFC XI. Since that date, a lot has changed on the Footbrake landscape. Those changes made us take a hard look at the WFC, to make sure that we are giving the racers the best opportunity to enjoy a weekend of Footbrake racing in Bristol. After that evaluation period, we have decided to make a small change or two, to our format.
The 2018 BTE World Footbrake Challenge will go back in time a few years, and revert back to the Triple 10’s format, that was wildly popular with the Footbrake community. The Yukon Gear and Axle Triple 10’s will have our standard GUARANTEED purse and will continue to pay 2nd Round winners. The entry fee for the main event, will be $350, if you enter by June 5th. The Thursday night gamblers will still pay $3K to win, guaranteed, and it will also pay 2nd Round winners. We will feed the racers again on Saturday night, like we’ve done for many years. WFC XII will be the same great event that we’ve given you, for the previous 11 years. However, we are making two fairly significant changes for 2018.
NEW for the WFC supporters, is a change in policy for double entry payment for pre-entries. In the past, if you doubled, you had to pay for both entries prior to the event, to get the discounted rate. In 2018, you can pre-enter at the discounted rate, and buy another discounted entry, AT THE GATE. If you already have an entry, your 2nd entry can be bought for $350 at the gate, when you arrive in Bristol. This will allow our racers to keep some money in their pocket, to go enjoy some of the other great Footbrake races that are available to them.
The other BIG change for 2018, is our break rule, that we debuted at the 2017 SFC, in Holly Springs, Mississippi. This year, if a racer that’s still in, breaks during competition, and their car cannot continue, they will be allowed to switch vehicles during the race with race director’s approval. The vehicle that you switch to, CAN’T be in the race on another entry. It must be a car that has been eliminated from competition. We will make the approval decision based on the reason your car can’t continue to compete. For example, hard braking, resulting in an incident, will not warrant a vehicle change. A broken engine, trans etc, will qualify for a switch. We are making this change, to give our racers every chance they can get, to compete for the purse.
