If you own a Polaris RZR/RANGER 800, this is your sign to clean/replace your oil pressure regulator! Brought to you by a few of our unlucky customers.
This regulator is a small dowel pin and a spring tucked into the block on the outlet of the oil pump. It’s a very tight fit and has a tendency to seize, either open or closed, causing the engine to either have ALL the oil pressure, or very low oil pressure. Both cause the same failure. The flat tappet camshaft followers begin to wear extremely fast, cupping the bottom of the follower and sending all that material that wears off, through the oil system on the engine. Sometimes you get lucky and can rebuild what you have, but sometimes there is just pure carnage!

Anyone who has been to the shop lately has probably seen this truck and wondered if it was my new “decoration”. 😂 You know we mainly focus on power sports here, but when I heard the story behind this truck and just how badly our customer was being treated, we said, “just bring it over!” It showed up on a trailer, hadn’t run in over a year; the list of “repairs” was a mile long….. and it still wasn’t running… we ended up finding FOUR separate issues causing the crank no-start. Meaning, after countless hours troubleshooting, testing, and repairing, we were still denied the satisfaction of that first startup after a repair…. THREE times… I know some won’t believe me, but I am slightly stubborn….. 😉 So we didn’t stop! Four repairs later, and this truck is actually going to leave the shop under its own power! Whether it’s a brand new bike, SXS, etc., coming in to install a new air freshener, or that old busted project that nobody is willing or able to repair…… If you bring it through these doors, you can believe that if it’s physically possible, we will make it happen!
