Sterling Heritage Awarded Contract Extension to Support VPS
Sterling Heritage is pleased to announce that we have been awarded a six month contract extension to continue supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Point of Service (VPS) kiosk initiative. Our team of Business Analyst’s will continue to provide support to the VA, including all facets of requirements management and testing services.
Sterling Heritage Awarded Contract to Provide Procurement Support Services to the Department of Interior
Sterling Heritage is pleased to announce that we have been awarded a contract to support the Department of Interior, Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE). We will be providing OSMRE with several contract specialists who will assist them in all aspects of the entire contract lifecycle including pre-award, award, post-award and contract close out support services.
Sterling Heritage Issued Task Order to Provide Farming Instruction to Eleven Farmers in Mississippi
Sterling Heritage is pleased to announce that we have been issued the first task order under our Farm Instruction Services Blanket Purchase Agreement with the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Benefits Association. Sterling Heritage will be providing one-on-one farming instruction to eleven farmers in the Jackson, Mississippi region for the next five years. Our instructors will teach their Veteran how to profitably establish and run and organic farm.
Chet Andes joins Sterling Heritage
Mr. Chet Andes brings more than 15 years of educational experience to the Sterling Heritage team. As the Technology Education Teacher/On-site technologist at Evergreen Middle School, he served in multiple advisory roles where he successfully trained staff on technology implementation into the classroom. As an instructor, he also developed and presented several courses relating to information technology. Mr. Andes will be assisting the Veterans Affairs Acquisition Academy with a variety of projects.
Sterling Heritage Welcomes Ann Fodor
Ms. Ann Fodor joins Sterling Heritage with over 14 years of professional experience. For the past 10 years, she has served as the Regional Peer Trainer and instructor at Regional Education Service Agency (RESA) 8, where she has been involved with evaluating curriculum and training effectiveness to ensure full compliance with state standards. Ms. Fodor also plans and leads professional development activities for teachers, administrators, and support staff. Her experience includes teaching adults in both the workplace and traditional classroom environments. Ms. Fodor will be supporting the VAAA with various projects.
Don Corbin joins Sterling Heritage
Mr. Donald Corbin joins Sterling Heritage with more than 10 years of experience in education, both at the teaching and administrator level. He has worked for Prince George’s County Public Schools for 10 years. For the past 2 years, Mr. Corbin has served as the Instructional Lead and Professional Development Lead Teacher at Seabrook Elementary School, where he has worked to support teachers and students facilitate growth in their professional practice and student growth academically. Prior to this role, Mr. Corbin served as Teacher and Technology Chair at Cooper Lane Elementary School for 8 years. Mr. Corbin will be supporting the Facilities Management School at the VAAA.

Sterling Heritage recently attended the launch of the new Joint Contingency Expeditionary Services (JCXS) Contingency Operating Environment (COE) Platform. JCXS is DoD’s agile, responsive, and global provider of joint expeditionary acquisition business solutions that fulfill mission-critical requirements, while supporting interagency collaboration. The JCXS contingency deployment platform delivers application integration and business support services, and a portfolio of web-based business solutions for military, government, and civilian organizations that face the challenges of international contracting in contingency and expeditionary environments. Sterling Heritage supports JCXS Program Office by providing project management and technical expertise for its oContrax, cASM, and 3in1 Tool systems.
Sterling Heritage Wins 5 Year BPA to Support the Veterans Benefits Administration
Sterling Heritage was recently awarded a 5 year BPA with the Veterans Benefits Administration to provide farming support services. Sterling Heritage will work with Veterans to manage a fully sustainable and profitable organic farm. Our organic farmers will educate veterans on a variety of agricultural topics including planning, producing, marketing, resource management, and financial management.
Farm Instructors Continue to Work with Veteran Farmers in Mississippi
Our farmer instructors in Mississippi have been working hard with their veteran farmers to improve farm conditions and increase profitability. The photo on the left is Farmer Tre’ with his mentees in Jackson, Mississippi. Tre’ has been working with a veteran in Philadelphia, MS. He hopes to work with the veteran in getting his farm to switch from conventional to organic farming techniques. Our farm instructor and her veteran in Biloxi, Mississippi have also been successful in working together to improve farm conditions, despite the less than favorable soil conditions of the gulf coast area. The farm instructor has worked with the veteran to help his piglets survive the flooded farm area. We are very excited to see that changes have been made to help the veterans and look forward to continuing down this path of success!

Ms. Beverly Baccala comes to Sterling Heritage with over 20 years of professional work experience and 16 years in adult education. For the past 13 years, Ms. Baccala has worked as Regional Coordinator for Adult Education for Regional Education Services Agency (RESA 8), where she was responsible for compliance monitoring, curriculum development and evaluation, grant writing, human resources management, instructional support, program evaluation, strategic planning, and technical assistance. Beverly has recently joined the Sterling Heritage team at the Veterans Affairs Acquisition Academy in Frederick, Maryland.
Sterling Heritage Welcomes Lucas Brown
Mr. Lucas Brown is a recent college graduate from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. His political science and strategic communications studies have developed strong research and writing skills. Lucas also has experience in supporting federal government programs as a Management Assistant in the Defense Logistics Agency. At the Defense Logistics Agency, Lucas monitors and tracks orders from suppliers to warfighters. He is well versed in the entire Microsoft Office Suite and has extensive experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative research and analysis.
Andy Umanzor Joins Sterling Heritage
Mr. Andy Umanzor joins Sterling Heritage as a Project Specialist and will be supporting our VAAA client with facilities management. Prior to joining Sterling Heritage, Andy worked as a project coordinator at New Light Technologies, a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) company in Washington, D.C. Throughout his educational and professional career, Andy has worked as an English-Spanish translator for the University of Maryland and Cerner Corporation.

Raj Koduru Joins Sterling Heritage
Mr. Rajendra Koduru possesses over 11 years of Federal IT experience in the areas of analysis, design, architecture, implementation & testing of enterprise applications implemented using Java/JEE technologies. He specializes in enterprise software development & architecture using Oracle Fusion Middleware technology stack. His recent experience includes serving as the Application Architect and Lead Application Developer for DPAP/DLA where he architected, designed, developed and deployed oContrax system to customers in various countries.
VPS Team Gathers to Conduct UAT
Our team supporting the Veterans Point of Service (VPS) kiosk initiative recently met in Atlanta, Georgia to conduct a successful session of Vetlink Release 5.5 User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
As the team is remotely located throughout the east coast, they took the opportunity to meet up for lunch at the Busy Bee Cafe. The Cafe is widely known for having some of the best fried chicken in the south.
Sterling Heritage Awarded Two New Contracts With VBA
Sterling Heritage was recently awarded two Veterans Administration contracts that allow us to fulfill two company goals - supporting veterans and working to expand sustainable, organic farming. We will be training and educating veterans in Mississippi, helping them develop and sustain their own organic farms. The veterans will spend a number of hours each week with a Sterling Heritage consultant who is an established organic farmer. The consultant will guide the veteran in the full process of establishing and maintaining a successful organic farm. The training will continue until the farms are independently profitable.
Sterling Heritage Welcomes Terry Doyle
Terry Doyle will also be working as a Farm Instructor for veterans in Mississippi. Terry will be assisting a farmer in Biloxi. Terry currently runs a small family owned farm that specializes in fruits and cut flowers. Her farm, Coastal Ridge Farm, grows their produce as naturally and sustainably as possible and label themselves “Environmentally Sensible & Rationally Natural.”
Erin Phillips Joins Sterling Heritage
Ms. Erin Phillips is a recent graduate from the University of Virginia where she completed a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Affairs. Throughout college, Erin served as a volunteer with International Students and Scholars Staff (VISAS) Workplace ESL Assistant Program, where she conducted weekly meetings to provide individualized instruction for study to pass the U.S. Citizenship exam. In addition, Erin served as Vice President of Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity at the University of Virginia, where she organized and managed 60+ service projects every weekend throughout her spring semester. Erin also worked as the Madison House Program Director for the SPCA Pet Pals Program. She will be joining the Sterling Heritage team at the Veterans Affairs Acquisition Academy in Frederick, Maryland.
Sterling Heritage Welcomes Avery Bishop
Ms. Avery Bishop will also be joining the Sterling Heritage team at the VA Acquisition Academy. Avery holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications and Public Relations from Bowie State University, and is currently enrolled in the University of Baltimore’s Master of Public Administration program. Prior to joining Sterling Heritage, Avery worked as membership and programming advisor at the Orokawa Family Center YMCA. After graduating from Bowie State, Avery worked as residential counselor for Boys Hope Girls Hope Baltimore, where she worked to improve the lives of at-risk youth in Baltimore City.

Ricardo Taylor will be joining the Sterling Heritage team at the Veterans Affairs Acquisition Academy in Frederick, MD. Ricardo has been working at the VA Acquisition Academy for four years, where he supports the Office of the Registrar (OOR). Ricardo holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from George Mason University and a certificate in Essentials of Government Contracting from Villanova University.
JaQuan James Joins Sterling Heritage
JaQuan James has joined the Sterling Heritage team as a Hardware Sustainment Specialist for the Department of Homeland Security Office OIT Products & Technology Branch, where he will support the USCIS OIT in maintaining the OIT property book. JaQuan is a graduate of Washington National Region Year Up, a technical and professional training program. Prior to joining Sterling Heritage, JaQuan worked for Freddie Mac as a Software Tester where he gained experience in Manual and Regression testing. JaQuan is currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science at Westwood College.

Sterling Heritage Welcomes Ron Barker
Mr. Ron Barker is a software engineer who will be assisting us with our support of the oContrax system for DoD. He has been producing software solutions to business problems for almost twenty years. Ron holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Information Systems (MSCIS) and earned a Bachelor of Computer Science degree with a Software Engineering emphasis. More recently, Ron became a Certified Scrum Master (SCM) through the ScrumAliance. Ron has led dynamic development teams on several successful high-dollar projects using fast-paced Agile methodologies as well as in CMMi Level 5 environments. Ron specializes in architecting simple-to-use solutions to complex business problems. Some of the companies for which Ron has completed projects include: the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), the Air Force, L-3 Communications, Boeing, Total Quality Systems, and Companion Systems. Ron was a co-founder of Audax Systems.

On past engagements, Tige has lead multi-million dollar IT projects utilizing the Agile Scrum development process. His unique set of customized Agile Scrum tools and development process knowledge has been vital in putting together and managing successful high-powered development teams.
Viet Doan Joins Sterling Heritage
Mr. Viet Doan will be joining the Sterling Heritage team as a Hardware Sustainment Specialist for the Department of Homeland Security Office OIT EUS Products & Technology Branch, where he will support the USCIS OIT in maintaining the OIT property book. Mr. Viet Doan is a recent law school graduate from Ave Maria School of Law. Prior to joining Sterling Heritage, Mr. Doan worked for Legal Aid and the Department of Homeland Security USCIS. Mr. Doan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Politics with a minor in international studies from the University of Dallas.

Ms. Meganne Downey joins Sterling Heritage as an Academic Administrator and will be assisting the Project Manager at the Veterans Affairs Acquisition Academy. Meganne served as a Graduate Assistant and Teaching Assistant where she designed, developed, and co-facilitated professional development opportunities to employees at JMU, and assisted in the creation and facilitation of a semester-long course for adult learner.

Mr. Terrell Hawkins will be joining the Sterling Heritage team as a Configuration Management Specialist at the Department of Homeland Security’s U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Office of Technology. Mr. Hawkins will assist the OIT with software asset management assistance in providing technical assistance to assure the assets, products and services purchased and installed confirm to service level agreements, contract specifications, agreed upon schedule and the expected level of quantity and quality. Mr. Hawkins comes to Sterling Heritage with 12 years of experience in providing technical support to Federal and commercial clients.
