Race Results | US 24 Speedway | June 20
We seem to have a magnet to a 6th place finish lately. Not bad, but definitely have the speed and capability for more. You’ll see in this weeks SlateUp, Inc. Video Clip of the week the difference between a podium and a 6th place run is one mistake. 4 corners, 25 laps. 100 opportunities to be good or perfect. We were about 98%. But 2% was the difference in this competitive class.
Hot Laps | Timed 1st out of 33 cars
Heat Race | 1st to 1st
Feature | 5th to 6th
Dad made a few changes to the car throughout the night mechanically as opposed to tuning shocks and although a tad different feeling, the car was more settled and felt good- just different. Heat race was uneventful. When you start on pole in a passing points format, you have got to maintain that spot for a good feature starting spot.
In the feature I was able to quickly settle into 3rd, where I ran the majority of the race. As you’ll see in the video, going to the bottom made it challenging with reduced grip and lack of forward drive off, but I tried to make it work and see if anything was there a few times. Something we’ll try to improve on without losing the balance of the car. A few laps to go and I pushed a little too hard, unsettled the car and dropped back to 6th at the finish.
The great thing about using video is knowing where you can improve, and analyzing your mistakes. I feel like I took a 3rd or 4th place car and ended up 6th. That’s frustrating. But clearly know what to do better, and I will. I focus so much on what I do wrong, but after watching this video there’s a lot of good in there that we’re going to build off of.
