Well this was a nice surprise. I went to put LED bulbs in the angel eyes and found the wires in the headlight assembly were fried! For the short term I wired in a replacement pigtail for the angel eyes, but will eventually replace the housing with a new one. Strangely enough the lights never stopped working and the car didn't burn down.

I've included a few pics of the damage, noting what wires they are, as well as the repair after it was finished. You can also see the sticker that shows what bulbs go in the housing: H8 for angel eyes and H3 for cornering light. Keep in mind that this is a pre-LCI E93 with dynamic xenon headlights. LCI E92/E93 take different bulbs, as well as E90/E91, so check before you buy.

On a side note, H8 and H11 are interchangeable in this case if you're going LED as the only difference was wattage on non-LED bulbs. Unfortunately, the H11 bulbs I had wouldn't fit with the giant heat sink on the back, so the LEDs will have to wait, but at least it's a little safer now.

I finally got around to installing this BMS intercooler a bit ago and have zero complaints so far! I was on the fence about it at first since I know I'll eventually go bigger, but I couldn't pass up the deal I got on this used one. It bolts right in with no trimming needed. The intercooler accepts OEM connections making it an easy early upgrade and uses the stock mounting points.

Cost was not the only factor in getting this intercooler. This will allow me to make smaller upgrades without running in to heat soak problems along the way. Install too big of an intercooler too soon and you'll have a host of other problems that could show up. But this way I have something bigger, and most importantly better, than the stock one that will serve me well enough until I need to make the switch to next size up.

BMW Style 350 wheels look right at home on the E93!

It literally took all day yesterday to get them installed 🙄 at the first shop their machine broke taking the first old tire off so I had to find another shop that had a staff, a machine that could do run flats, and could fit me in since I was driving on a cracked wheel. I finally got home around 6:00pm. I never even made it to work.

Today was a new day though! I walk out to the car, admire the new rolling stock, fire up the N54, and WTF 🤦‍♂️ right rear tire low. Last night I drove home from the tire shop only stopping once for and parked it. This morning it was down to 20 psi.

No problem, I fired up the compressor and filled it up to 45 psi in case a little leaked out before I got back home and could check it. Before you flip out, normal psi for the rear is 42 psi unless I'll be averaging greater than 100 mph. After work I walked to the car, admired the wheels, fired up the N54, and WTF 🤦‍♂️ right rear tire low. Thankfully there was a gas station a couple blocks away. Bonus points for there still being time left on the air compressor after the girl using it when I pulled up finished checking her tires! Thank you whoever you are!

If you want to keep your engine oil temperature down, look no further than . I recently installed their oil thermostat and couldn't be happier! My average oil temp during the daily commute dropped about 20 degrees Fahrenheit with this one upgrade! Unlike other options on the market this is an actual thermostat, not a bypass device.

Install takes about 30 minutes. One bolt holds the hoses in, three bolts hold the thermostat on. That's it! I went ahead and got their titanium bolt set while I was at it. Don't forget to install a new gasket and o-rings when you put it on. Eventually I'll add their dual upgrades oil coolers for track days, but for now I'm loving the lower temps!

Yesterday I drove down to Savannah, GA to pick up these wheels for only $400! Somehow I managed to fit three of the wheels in the back seat, and they barely clear the roof. The fourth had to go in the trunk. All loaded up and ready to have the tires swapped over tomorrow morning.

After a much needed break I'm finally getting back into the swing of things. I'll have some new posts coming soon about some of the work I've done lately, but for now let's talk potholes. For reference, the first pic collage shows a 57 minute repair job that looks like something an elementary school class did on a field trip. How that can be considered a suitable repair is beyond me. The second pic collage shows the damage to a road repair only TWO DAYS after it was patched!

How many of you struggle with roads that are so bad they're damaging your car? I'm looking at about $3,000 +/- between damage to my control arms, motor mounts, and struts. I'm filing a claim with SCDOT to see if they'll cover the costs, but I'm not holding my breath.
