Community members of Goodland,
we are needing your assistance in obtaining a photo or video of a vehicle from an incident.

On May 1st, 2026, at 4:15 PM, The Goodland Police Department was dispatched to the 700 Block of W. 16th St. for a report of a dog that was hit and killed. Upon arriving on scene, the following information was obtained: A juvenile was walking their dog on a leash, across the street, when a red pickup struck the dog in the middle of the roadway. When the reporting party called the incident in, the dog was still alive, but later succumbed to it's injuries. The vehicle in question never stopped, and continued East on 16th Street.

Officers have surveyed the area for security and door cameras, in attempts to located a full description of the vehicle. If you or anyone in your area has cameras footage that could help identify the make and model of this pickup, please contact the Goodland Police Department or contact Sherman County Dispatch at 785-890-4575. You can also message the Goodland Police Department page with information regarding the incident.

We are asking individuals to look at their cameras between 4:00PM and 4:15PM. We appreciate your assistance as always.
