5-9-26 update - ACS - GoPro fail no videos.
Tom started 5th in the heat and drove a fast hot rod up to take home the win.
For the feature Tom started 8th and fought up towards the front being held up on some traffic that seems to struggle with a slick track, being spoiled with hammer down all last year. Ultimately finished 5th.
For stock car, started 2nd and led 4 laps before a caution. Turn 1 of the restart, a failed slider for a meaningless position gain (top 4 draw re-draw) ended the heat race. Finished 6th. Bent wheel, ruined tire, buckled door bar, bent trailing arms and rear-end housing.
Instead of drawing for likely a top 5 starting position in the feature, ended up starting 17th with a bent racecar. Drove to 9th, slid off the track missing turn in mark due to dust. Drove from 15th back to 9th and did it again. Restarted 13th and ended up 10th. Track was slick and car lacked drive on exit.
Track was nice and smooth, Dry slick to hammer down any day. The dust was pretty bad, safety crews did a great job all night. In opinion, some work needs to take place still on either lack of care or favoritism. Some cars can jump starts, run over 3-4 cars in one corner and get cheered on, others can take another out with a slider and the recipient is the only one who gets dealt the shaft. Once you roll into tech, it doesn't stop there, some obvious things are overlooked seemingly intentionally while others are clear as day illegal from a test in front of everyone yet no worries, its fine here. Finally changes get made and things seem to be looking up, hopefully improvements continue and calls, penalties will actually be made to prevent this from being a place where you can run illegal motors, demo derby off others equipment, and bull your way to the front off the starts. Grew up going to ACS and watching there, I remember 120-130 cars for regular shows. Now specials are lucky to see 100. Sad to see it, but also starting to see why..
