You have probably seen this new car announced by already. However, do you know the brilliance of this machine?!
This is the result of decades long kuyashi-sa.
Though there is no dorect translation for kuyashi-sa, it describes discontentment, including with ones self.
When the LFA was produced, that was just an introduction to what ex-CEO Akio Toyoda was truly about. Some report that he had a feeling of humiliation through the years, that Toyota became renowned for manufacturing "boring cars."
Let's be honest, after the 90's (USDM) into the early 2000's (JDM), we unfortunately became privy to cars that no longer gave you an experience. Given the US and global economic conditions at those times, it was a practical move for the global manufacturer.
Fast forward to today, Akio-san has maintained his position to get away from boring cars, and he has not let-up, with the GR-Corolla/GR-Yaris being the car the world needed for the majority. Affordable, exciting, and down right invigorating.
Now, if your tax bracket is in alignment with what we imagine the new GR GT / GT3 will cost, we are sure you won't be disappointed.
All aluminum frame/chassis (a first from Toyota), with what we in the US market are familiar with in the Corvette, and Rear mounted transaxle, and overall height of 1195mm (or 47 inches those that don't know how to measure). That is a staggering 1.5 inches less than the C8 Corvette.
There are several design concepts we see through out the car that pay homage to a number of cars already produced, such the headlight design similarly to the A90 Supra, 1/4 panel body sweep found in the Lexus RC, and rear bumper garnish taking from the LFA.
This car is to challenge many, and we are excited to see the continuation of dominance in many automotive areas by Toyota.
