About a year ago, I was brought this 1976 C10 Pro-Street for a legacy build in honor of a family-member of one of our customers.
The truck was truly a roller - no engine, no transmission or drivetrain, just a chassis on wheels that had been sitting since the early 2000s. Nearly 25 years ago, the family had a 700HP Dart Mark IV Big Block built for the truck, but due to unforseen circumstances it was never installed. It had sat on the original pallet in the original pallet wrapping ever since, until it was brought to our shop.
Over the course of the last year, I have been working on bringing this truck back to life. Getting the engine and transmission set into place were fairly straightforward. All of the contributing aspects, like fuel system, cooling system, ignition and wiring, are what required the most thought and effort, as is true with most any engine-swap.
For the first time in over two decades, we started up and ran the truck. It was a powerful moment, for us and the family. Soon the truck will move and drive under its own power and be road worthy again, after all this time. I had planned to post updates throughout the process; I'll be showing it more as we near completion.
It's been an honor to work on such a special project.
