SOUTH FLORIDA'S EXTREME HEAT COULD BE DAMAGING YOUR VEHICLE. Here are tips to PROTECT YOUR VEHICLE:

1. Park in the shade. It is the easiest form of protection. By avoiding direct sunlight, you'll help keep your dash from drying and cracking.

2. Check The Air Conditioning - Keeping the car cool inside can protect your inner components, but leave wear and tear on your A/C.

3. Be sure to Inspect your Tires Regularly - The hot pavement can damage tires and their treads quickly, which can be dangerous with sudden rain storms. Check tire pressure often to stay safe.

4. Cooling system. In order to help protect your engine from overheating, make sure it is in good working order. Have the belts checked and antifreeze/coolant drained. Change belts and fluids on a regular basis, as recommended by your vehicle's manufacturer.

5. Regular use of the A/C can lessen the life of the battery. Have the vehicle's battery and complete charging system checked regularly by a professional mechanic to make sure it's functioning properly.

6. Wash and dry the exterior and dash often. Sun and heat can fade and crack the paint. Frequent washing and hand drying help remove dirt and dust particles that can cause micro scratches and dull your car's finish.

7. Install seat covers. They not only protect leather and fabric seats, but they also help keep them cool.

8. Pack a cooler for longer trips - If you’re heading further away from home, you don’t want to rely on rest stops and convenience stores during a heat wave. Should your car break down, you want to have a decent supply of cool water to stay safe until help arrives.
