Your eyes see x surface. X surface has pigment which absorbs and reflects light within at certain rates and reflects back to the eye the spectrum we can recognize.
Polishing or detailing removes those hills and valleys making larger areas of light reflect less angles back to eyes. 😎 This also creates a challenge as paint is only allowed so thick and contains compounds to resist the chemical, UV, impact ect. Polishing opens/removes these compounds accellerating wear, not polishing leads to more labor or stronger chemical.
