Yesterdays adventures, new alternator and a new pigtail!

About a year ago I replaced the alternator pigtail on this car because it was no longer fitting securely.

Fast forward to yesterday, he had it checked out at a shop because the battery light was on again. The technician there saw that the pigtail had been redone, and swore up and down it was done wrong. So he redid it, and the car stalled out right after he left the shop.

I show up, the alternator was only making 9 volts. So we replaced the alternator, and I decided to double check the technicians work. It was a sloppy job, only done with electrical tape with poorly done crimps, and the ground and load wire were switched according to the OEM wiring diagram I pulled up.

So I redid the pigtail, properly, with solder, heat shrink tubing on each individual wire, and then wrapped it in electrical tape afterward.

This is one of my longest customers I’ve had. Been working on his cars for about 5 years, and I appreciate him trusting me with his car as much as he does.
