Well guys, this one was definitely a little different. This dirty brown interior was one of those colors that can be almost impossible to get looking brand new again, so the first step was setting the right expectations with the customer. At the end of the detail, they were super happy with the transformation, and that's what matters. But here's a tip for my fellow detailers: If a customer brings you a car that smells bad, don't automatically assume the problem is inside the cabin. Pop the hood and check the fresh-air intake/cowl area, especially if the vehicle regularly parks underneath trees. Leaves, dirt, moisture, and organic debris can build up around the air intake and cabin air filter. That buildup can contribute to some seriously nasty odors, and potentially create an environment for mold and bacteria. Sure enough, this car had a BIG problem hiding under the hood. We removed all the debris, pulled the old cabin air filters, vacuumed and blew out everything we could reach, installed new filters, and finished the odor treatment with a Bio-Bomb VDK. Interior cleaned. Source of the odor addressed. Car smelling fresh again. Sometimes a proper interior car detail and odor removal means looking beyond the interior.
