How long does the Tesla Model 3 battery last?
The Tesla is a car that rarely breaks down. In its essence, it is a function car: it is designed to get you to your destination with minimal energy - and money. At the same time, the most expensive construction element here is the battery. Its replacement or degradation will cost you several thousand dollars.
What is the battery life for the Tesla Model 3? What to do when this period comes to an end?
The company itself states that the battery warranty period is 8 years. However, the "Three" entered the market only a few years ago and it is impossible to say whether this statement is true or not, for now.
At the same time, the Tesla Model 3 is equipped with newer batteries than previous models. Their claimed mileage is up to 500,000 km. That is 1.5 thousand full charge cycles - or 17-18 years of operation. But even here it is important to understand that at the end of this term, the battery will not stop working in one day. Instead, the battery will gradually degrade, losing power reserve. Moreover, the company is currently working hard to increase the endurance of its batteries. We are not talking about thousands, but millions of kilometers. And the company has already achieved certain success in this: in September 2020, Tesla, together with China's Contemporary Amperex Technology, produced the first battery with a service life of more than 2 million kilometers.
