This Week in Gearhead History: On November 14th, 1962, Jeep introduced the Wagoneer!
"The Wagoneer is one of those vehicles that quietly came out and ended up changing the whole automotive world. While Ford, Chevy, and Dodge were slugging it out with high visibility vehicles like muscle cars, trucks, Broncos, Blazers, and Ramchargers, the lowly Wagoneer was not only there first, but it also created a whole new class of vehicle that eventually came to be called the SUV. The design and ruggedness of the Wagoneer was so good, it ran virtually unchanged for almost 30 years! This means that there are thousands of them out there waiting for you to find one and restore it. The question is, with so many iconic grilles to choose from, which one is your favorite? Mine is the “razor” grille from the 70’s, with the 60’s “Gladiator” grille a close second."
