Part 2 of the 2019 fun was also getting set up with @wrightcncusa 5x10 Industrial plasma table to further compliment the long game here at Coachworks. This table has been crucial to getting not just the prototype work knocked out but also allowing the inventory to be built up by 1 dude......or at least until the move started 😉.
Between the @wrightcncusa and @automec_inc products, the future is most certainly going to involve many more machine additions to the collection.
Fall 2019 certainly was the start of an incredible, 3 part, 14 month adventure 😍
1st) Working with the incredible folks at #Automec_Inc to solve the challenges of making an old outdated mechanical press brake competitive with more modern manufacturing volumes.
Relating their #cnc backguage on this old Iron, to taking an old #streetrod or #musclecar and dressing it up with 🔥 breathing abilities of a #protouring build......was a night and day difference to the efficiency of, not only the manufacturing side of #Coachwerx but also the to custom fabrication services as well! 👌
ANY Streetrod shop in the country that battles the age old challenge of making #customcar building more efficient while working with the old world iron that's got soul, while maintaining quality and freedom of creativity...... certainly needs to give 'em a call !!!

Our Build with a Pro option has been fun. Working on & off alongside the DIy'er implementing as many unique ideas we can and helping them grow their skills along the way!
Here we're working with DIY contractor Marty on a low profile 150 gallon insulated and heated underbelly fresh water storage system.
Hiring us in the early phases to do what we do best.....clean custom design of the system.
Then we got the project rolling to a point where he felt comfortable to take over......saving him $$$ on the labor costs of custom work while answering questions and guiding him along the way.
If you're not affraid to get dirty but lack indoor space and or equipment, the abilities to visualize a custom design or skills to tackle the technical areas, hit us up to see how sharing the workload with Coachworks can get you in to that wild custom rig while keeping the full build fun, educational & keep cost down!

Killer 16” raise we just wrapped up for @c4ldayton!
We love the look of these CE’s with a medium raise like this!
The front axle is plenty far forward to allow for an exceptional approach angle and the raise is moderate enough to allow for access to more remote areas.
We worked on this bad boy day and night to get it done in just 3 weeks!
It wasn’t easy as we are the only builder that uses solid rivets and we used several thousand of them on this raise!
Our dedication to using solid rivets is just one of the many things that sets our builds apart from the rest. What makes your rig stand out from the rest?
@schutzengelskoolie has got his 8 inch roof raise all buttoned up on his 2010 Bluebird RE!
It’s very subtle! Can you see where he raised it?
With his fresh coat of paint he now looks normal and not so much like a school bus!
His moderate roof raise helps him blend in and travel to more adventure locations than a huge raise. All while providing plenty of space for 4 season insulation and head room!
What’s your guys’ main priority, more space inside or being able to travel farther?
Fabbing up a front cap for this bad boy today!
A full size FE like this with a 20” raise and a 5.9 #Cummins typically will get 10 mpg while empty!
We like to stay as light as possible. This gives us the most range & mobility for the furthest adventures!
What kinda mpg does your rig get?
Up close with the thing we love most!
A mechanical 12v 5.9 #Cummins!
It is hard to beat their reliability, power and mpg!
Here it is shown in a full size FE but it does equally well in a full size RE. @mcmanumv has a 24v 5.9 in his beast RE!
What engine and form factor do you guys prefer?
Up, up and away!
Well, only 16 inches.
Still feels like all the difference in the world!
Ya well... it didn’t have a Cummins.
We gotta fix that!
finally getting closer to having #skoolie hat channel extensions on the shelf ready to ship! A huge thank you to all those that use our products 🙏 ! Look for these and other new & creative parts on our website!
Ole pal is doing a lot better, don’t you guys worry!
At over a half a century old, this frame is just not built to the standards of modern day and was not serving the beautiful body justice but we’ve got a fix for that!
Pulling another one into the shop today!
Thank god it’s a Cummins!
Chopping another bus in half today!
All the skins on @lookingforthesimplelife!
Gotta love an all mechanical #Cummins FE!
Time for a few solid rivets now!
This once full size CE is now incredibly peppy!
It’s total length is 7.5 feet shorter and the living space is 11 feet shorter so needless to say it is A LOT lighter! Its 5.9 Cummins & Allison 2000 series tr**ny spins the tires like there ain’t nothing on the frame!
We are rebuilding this bad boy from the ground up to be as light as absolute possible without sacrificing structural integrity because on the road weight is the enemy!
At Coachworks we focus on strength by design and do not rely on material thickness because for every pound saved is another pound you can haul.
Anyone of you have a hunch as to what we are up to now?
DIY Contractor, Marty, is hard at work over here at Coachworks!
He’s got the skins on and is cutting out some windows!
Time for a few more solid rivets now!
Your time has come ole pal.
Timewarp part 2!
Cruising around the shop at light speed today!
We’ll have to save the rest of the shop for another day but here is an up to date glimpse at least!
What kind of #AdventureRig are you guys rocking?
Time to increase the power to weight ratio on this bad boy!
It’s 5.9 #Cummins was already more than adequate but now it will be a real hoss as it’s final weight will be about half it’s GVWR.
We pride ourselves in weight reduction as excess weight can lead to: reduced mpg, increased drivetrain/suspension wear, higher probability of getting stuck, limited mobility when traveling smaller roads & bridges and the list goes on.
Coming from a custom vehicle background we aim to make every rig as high of performance as possible to ensure years of dependable and heavy use for maximum adventures!
Where do you want to travel most in your #AdventureRig?
P.S. This is not the rig from yesterday. This is the first time we’ve posted about this one.
Did someone say OPEN FLOOR PLAN?!
This rig is redefining the term and we are loving the breeze!
Are you guys a fan of the open floor plan or do you prefer separate rooms?
@ Denver, Colorado
Cutting the first hat channel on a new roof raise is always the best feeling!
When using an angle grinder, you’ll want to watch out for the blade getting pinched, causing kickback.
You want to do this after your jacks have pressure on them to avoid getting the blade pinched once the hat channel is fully cut.
If the blade gets pinched it will likely kick back violently!
What’s the best feeling you’ve had on your build?
Popping the top on a beautiful CE today!
Pro tip: When angle grinding be sure to aim your sparks away from windows and mirrors.
The sparks will melt the glass and leave it looking like mini comets hit it.
If you must angle your sparks at windows or mirrors then be sure to cover them up. We suggest a welding blanket.
Dang @TurtleBusColorado you looking fine girl!
We love this open air format and how his short FE turned out!
Be sure to check them out for some top class transpertainment in Denver & Vail Valley!
