Rusty Wallace's “Midnight” Takes Over for “Last Call” at the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America

“Midnight” Takes Over for “Last Call” - Two of the most memorable rides in the championship-winning career of 2014 Motorsport Hall of Fame of America (MSHFA) Stock Cars inductee Rusty Wallace swapped spots as the featured attraction in the Stock Cars wing of the MSHFA museum in Daytona. The changing of the guard saw the 2005 Miller Lite Dodge Charger Rusty drove in the last race of his “Rusty's Last Call” final season swapped for the highly-decorated 1994 “Midnight” Miller Genuine Draft Ford Thunderbird that is now on display. Big thanks to Rusty, Greg Wallace and all on their team for the seamless transition and ongoing support! The MSHFA is in Daytona International Speedway's Ticket & Tours Building located in front of the famed 2.5-mile DIS tri-oval. Access to the MSFHA museum is included with every Daytona International Speedway tour, which run throughout each day, or as a museum-only ticket. Come take a closeup look at Midnight today!

"When you’re stuck in a foxhole with… bullets flying around you… you tend to grow up in a big hurry,” says sports car racing legend and 2005 Motorsports Hall of Fame of America inductee Hurley Haywood. Shortly after making his professional racing debut at Watkins Glen, Haywood received his draft notice for Vietnam and spent the next 13 months in the dangerous Mekong Delta. He credits the military perspective with later giving him an advantage on track in a Hall of Fame career as America’s most accomplished endurance driver. Haywood is featured in the MSHFA's newest exhibit, "They Wore Two Helmets: Racing’s War Heroes," and will be part of a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the new attraction at the Hall tomorrow, Thursday, November 17 at Noon EST. The MSHFA is in Daytona International Speedway's Ticket & Tours Building located in front of the famed 2.5-mile DIS tri-oval. Access to the MSFHA museum is included with every Daytona International Speedway tour, which run throughout each day, or as a museum-only ticket. See you tomorrow!

They Wore Two Helmets

The Motorsports Hall of Fame of America unveils its newest exhibit this week - They Wore Two Helmets: Racing’s War Heroes - recognizing racing legends who donned a uniform for their country. In addition to honoring their service, They Wore Two Helmets explores the connections racers across disciplines and decades felt between their military experiences and their later success in motorsports. Vietnam veteran Hurley Haywood will be the featured guest at the official ribbon-cutting ceremony that formally opens the new display this Thursday, November 17 at Noon EST. Other guests scheduled to attend include Jake Johansson, a retired U.S. Navy Captain with 35 years of military service who was elected last week to the Volusia County Council At-Large seat, and a contingent of Air Force ROTC students from nearby Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

'I think we’ve tried it for 31 years, so it's about time' - Penske on the IndyCar/NASCAR double

18 Indianapolis 500 victories... 17 IndyCar Championships... Three NASCAR Cup championships... Three Daytona 500 victories. And, overall, Team Penske has 611 race victories, 674 poles and 43 championships since 1996. There couldn't be anything left for Roger Penske (MSHFA Class of 1995) and Team Penske to accomplish, right? Well, how about The Captain's first IndyCar and NASCAR Cup titles in the same year. That's the gift Will Power, Joey Logano and the entire Team Penske organization gave their 85-year-old leader in 2022! Congratulations! Thanks to our good friends at RACER for the great article.

Remembering Ron, Three Years On. All any of us can ask for is to be remembered with a smile, and our late Founding President Ron Watson is truly behind the smiles of 10s of thousands of guests and friends that tour the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America each year. The magnificent culmination of Ron's unwavering drive and endless passion, the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America and Museum is proudly housed on the grounds of Daytona International Speedway and visited by people from all over the world all year long. Ron guided the incredible progress from humble beginnings in the late 1980s back in Novi, Michigan, but anybody who knew Ron - a man of vision, integrity, kindness and endless good cheer - wouldn't be surprised of the success. And it would be no surprise if Ron is smiling down on the Hall too, pleased with the continued progress and spectacular growth his successor George Levy and the dedicated team at the MSHFA continue to work on everyday in honor of Ron and all "Heroes of Horsepower.” “Onward!”

Stewart set for NHRA debut in Vegas

Love it and have huge respect for Hall of Famers when they decide to strap in and go racing one more time. Thanks to our friends from RACER for their story on the huge news that 2019 Motorsports Hall of Fame of America inductee Tony Stewart is making his drag racing debut this weekend in Las Vegas. In addition to a successful and winning first season fielding Tony Stewart Racing in NHRA with his wife Leah Pruett in a Top Fuel Dragster and Matt Hagan in Funny Car, Smoke is going to take to the Quarter Mile as a driver too. Las Vegas will be the first time Stewart has run competitively in the NHRA, driving for McPhillips Racing in a Top Alcohol Dragster. Good Luck Smoke!

Cold weather has hit the greater Daytona Beach area, but we have plenty of hot attractions to see indoors at the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America. As the saying goes, “where there's Smoke there's fire,” and one of our hottest displays right now is the recently delivered World of Outlaws Sprint Car on loan to the Hall by 2019 Inductee Tony Stewart. This is Smoke’s first WoO winner from 2011 and is a J&J Auto Racing chassis with a 410 cubic inch monster of an engine producing 800 horsepower. You can see this beautiful brute right now and we guarantee it will get your blood pumping. The MSHFA is open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily and located right on the grounds of Daytona International Speedway. The Hall is in the DIS Ticket and Tours building, just outside of the NASCAR Turn 4 tunnel, on International Speedway Blvd.

LINDA VAUGHN BIRTHDAY PARTY AT MOTORSPORTS HALL OF FAME OF AMERICA

For those who couldn't make it to Daytona for the 1st Annual "National Linda Vaughn Day," here's a taste, incl. fellow 2019 inductee Tony Stewart's spot-on account of what Linda means to the sport. The Hall was delighted to be chosen by Bruce Smith and other "FOLs" (Friends of Linda) as the venue and special thanks to Christi Edelbrock for making it a great opportunity for young people entering the sport. Enjoy.

We are happy to report that the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America has reopened this week after shutting down through the weekend due to Hurricane Ian. We have been equally moved by the incredible support of our friends and inductees who have reached out to see how the Hall was weathering the storm in addition to feeling an incredible amount of sympathy and sorrow for those suffering – including many friends and colleagues – in Southwestern Florida. Our thoughts are with you and better times ahead. The MSHFA is open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily and located right on the grounds of Daytona International Speedway. The Hall is in the DIS Ticket and Tours building, just outside of the NASCAR Turn 4 tunnel, on International Speedway Blvd.

Posting here as you are likely interested. Couldn't find the International FB page. Back in the 1960s, my father, documented Art Arfton and his Green Monster at Bonneville Salt Flats and turned it into a movie. The film was digitized in 2005 and I've only recently looked at it with thoughts you might be interested. It needs some restoration work, but you should enjoy it. ttps://youtu.be/97eUqkwhEW8
