Maryland Good Sam

Maryland Good Sam We are the state Good Sam club for Maryland. We work to share a link between our member clubs and other state chapters.

The Good Sam Club is an international organization of recreational vehicle owners. Its stated primary goals are to make RVing safer and more enjoyable, and to save members money through Club-endorsed benefits and services. It claims over a million members.[1] Credited with the development of the Good Sam Club is Art Rouse, founder of TL Enterprises, a California-based publishing company responsible for Trailer Life Magazine, Motorhome Magazine, and Rider Magazine. Rouse and his two sons acquired the organization in 1968 and further developed member benefits and RV-related services for which the club is known. Rouse sold TL Enterprises in the 1980s and died on June 19, 2007 following head injuries suffered as a result of a fall, at 89 years old. Good Sam Club is currently owned by the Affinity Group Inc., which also owns Trailer Life Publications, Motor Home Publications, Camping World, Woodalls RV park directory, and Camp Coast to Coast. Good Sam Club is based in Arapahoe County, Colorado, near Centennial. The name comes from the Bible parable of the Good Samaritan, which tells of a traveler from the region of Samaria who helped a person along the road who had been robbed and beaten.

Maryland State Parks maintains a page that reflecting updates on what is opened and what is closed for state parks. Camping is available at some state sites, but caution is still highly advised. Maryland Park Service says you can help if you:

Enjoy your beautiful State Parks, however parks are not for social gathering. Parks are for individuals and immediate families at present time. Do not engage in other social gathering in parks. Limit your group to fewer than 10 people and maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from other visitors.

Pack extra soap or hand sanitizer to be safe. Please take into consideration the health of others when spending time outdoors.

If you are sick or have been sick over the past two weeks, please stay home to recuperate.

Avoid popular areas where people may congregate and avoid larger groups, in general. If the parking lot is full when attempting to visit a park, leave and either visit a different approved location, or return home and visit at another time when the park is not busy.

Long distance travel is discouraged, unless it is essential. Please visit a park close to your home.

Get more valuable information. Your safety and the safety of others is in your hands.

In accordance with federal guidelines and state directives pertaining to COVID-19, we want to share important information about Maryland State Parks.

State officials developed the Roadmap to Recovery based on a wide variety of expert guidance. As states begin to resume "normal" operations, we urge our Good Sam members and everyone else to proceed with the utmost caution and due diligence. However, allowing more movement and letting businesses begin to reopen does not mean we are out of the woods. The virus is still a threat, which means you are still vulnerable. Many experts urge caution and ask people to continue the practice of social distancing, use protective masks, and otherwise take extra precautions as we continue to move through this pandemic.

We know that not everyone agrees with the restrictions. However, what we do know is that we want to see you around the campfire again. So, please, stay healthy. Our new normal is not yet written. In the meantime, read the Roadmap to Recovery and connect to the Maryland COVID-19 Dashboard: See real-time statistics, learn to cope, find resources, and get answers you need to know.

We are all in this together.

Americans are chipping in and helping with sewing face masks, getting groceries for a neighbor, donating to organizations that can directly help in the pandemic, and helping in hundreds of other ways. As part of this, RV owners are being asked to consider loaning out their RVs to help medical professionals and other first responders who are unable to go home because of their exposure to COVID-19 patients. This is a noble cause. We just want to be sure you proceed with caution. With every catastrophe, there are those who prey on good people. Don't become a victim. Take every step needed to ensure you are not simply giving your RV away.

To our members and friends: We ask that you take this direction seriously, even if you feel you are safe. We are in this together, and to succeed we must heed to flatten the curve.

“This is a deadly public health crisis—we are no longer asking or suggesting that Marylanders stay home, we are directing them to do so,” said Governor Hogan. “No Maryland resident should be leaving their home unless it is for an essential job or for an essential reason such as obtaining food or medicine, seeking urgent medical attention, or for other necessary purposes.”

Governor Larry Hogan
03/24/2020

Governor Larry Hogan

This morning, I enacted an executive order which closes all non-essential businesses, organizations, establishments, and facilities in Maryland effective at 5 p.m. today.

In addition to those businesses that have already been closed by our prior executive orders, this new executive order closes all those businesses NOT covered by the federal guidelines defining ‘critical infrastructure sectors,’ which include health care, food and agriculture, energy, public works, community-based government operations, the chemical, hazardous materials, and defense industrial base sectors, law enforcement and public safety, transportation, critical manufacturing, financial services, and water and wastewater.

Let me be clear: at this time we are not issuing or ordering a ‘shelter in place’ directive forcing people to stay home. However, we are telling all Marylanders to follow all of the directives we have issued and to follow the state law against crowds of more than 10 people. Unless you have an essential reason to leave your house, stay in your home.
