Steam is making a comeback on America’s newest aircraft carriers. 🇺🇸⚓ President Trump has ordered the Navy to drop the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) on the future USS Doris Miller and return to steam-powered catapults — the same tech used on Nimitz-class carriers for decades. The catch: EMALS production for Doris Miller is already nearly 50% complete, and the redesign could cost hundreds of millions of dollars. USS Gerald R. Ford, John F. Kennedy and Enterprise will keep EMALS — meaning the Ford class could end up split between two generations of launch technology.

🚨 UPDATE: Air India AI171 Investigation

Investigators have reportedly found no mechanical fault with the Boeing 787’s fuel control switches after extensive testing. The switches functioned as designed, shifting the focus of the investigation to other factors that may have led to the tragic crash.

The preliminary report indicated that both engine fuel control switches moved from RUN to CUTOFF seconds after takeoff, causing a loss of thrust. However, investigators have not determined why the switches moved or who moved them, and no final cause has been announced.

The official investigation remains ongoing, with the final report expected later this year.
