Skip forward a few years to 1908. American innovation is at the height of the Second Industrial Revolution, and a man by the name of Henry Ford is about to change the Automotive Industry. The first vehicle produced on an assembly line was born, the Ford Model T. Inspired by grain mill conveyor belts, Ford divided the labor of the production process into 84 steps. This division of labor significantly cut down the Model T’s build time and cost. Ford sold over 15 million units before ending production in May 1927.
