WHEN’S THE LAST TIME YOUR MOTOR WAS SERVICED?

If you had to think about it... it might be time.

We’ve got some room on the schedule right now for 100-hour services, 200-hour services and regular maintenance.

Might as well get it handled before the next time you want to hit the water.

337-384-4748 gets you on the list.

We get it... if it’s still pumping water, why change it?

Water pumps wear over time. If you wait until one quits working, your motor may not be getting enough water and can overheat.

That’s why we change the water pump before it fails, not after.

When was the last time yours was changed?

We talked about the 100-hour service, but what if you don’t put anywhere close to 100 hours on your boat?

It still needs to be serviced once a year.

Oil and fluids don’t stay fresh forever just because the boat isn’t being used. And sitting for long periods of time can cause its own problems.

That’s why it’s 100 hours or once a year — whichever comes first.

So if it takes you 3 years to put 100 hours on your boat, don’t wait 3 years to service it.

Next up... the 200-hour service.

This one should be done every 200 hours or at minimum every 2 years.

It goes a little further than your regular 100-hour service.

For a 200-hour service, we:

Do a visual inspection
Change the spark plugs
Change the fuel filter
Change the oil filter
Change the engine oil
Change the gear oil
Change the water pump
Pull and inspect the thermostat — replace if needed

The idea is pretty simple — stay ahead of the wear items and keep everything caught up before they cause a problem.

Next up... the 100-hour service.

This one should be done **every 100 hours or at least once a year**, even if you haven’t put 100 hours on the motor.

This is your regular maintenance service. Oil breaks down, filters collect dirt and debris, spark plugs wear, and gear oil can pick up moisture or show us signs of something going on in the lower unit.

For a 100-hour service, we:

* Do a visual inspection
* Change the spark plugs
* Change the fuel filter
* Change the oil filter
* Change the gear oil
* Change the engine oil

Keeping up with it means fresh fluids, fresh filters and a chance for us to catch anything that doesn’t look right.

**Next up... the 200-hour service.**

As promised... here’s why new motors need to be serviced after the break-in hours and what we do for a break-in service.

New motors need a little time for everything to mesh together.

After the first 10–20 hours, there can be metal flakes in the oil from everything breaking in. That’s why we want to get those oils changed out and fresh oil back in it.

For a break-in service, we:

Change the engine oil
Change the oil filter
Change the gear oil

Pretty simple, but it’s an important first service to get done.

WHAT SERVICE DOES MY OUTBOARD NEED?

Not sure what service your motor actually needs? You’re not the only one.

10-hour, 100-hour, annual service, change the water pump — it can get confusing.

We’re going to keep it simple and break down the three routine services we offer:

10-Hour Break-In Service — your new motor’s first service.

Basic Service — every 100 hours or at least once a year.

Full Service — includes the water pump and is recommended once a year.

Over the next few posts, we’ll explain what’s included in each one and when you need it.

Just the basics to help you stay ahead of maintenance and keep your boat ready to go.
