Summer rolled in fast across the Southeast, and the camping rules shift a little once the heat sets in. 🌞

A few things our team swears by: hydrate before you're thirsty (aim for half your body weight in ounces of water on a hot day), and set up your tent or rig with shade in mind, east-facing for morning sun, west-side trees for afternoon relief.

Throw a wet bandana around your neck during midday hikes and you'll feel ten degrees cooler. Save the big activities for early morning or late afternoon, and use the middle of the day for hammock time, a dip in the water, or a slow lunch under a shady canopy.

Heat is part of summer down here, just plan around it.

One of our favorite ways to spend a summer day at Cedar Creek RV & Outdoor Center in Cave Spring, GA: stack a morning float with an afternoon ride. 🛶 🚲

Hit Big Cedar Creek early when the water's cool and the banks are quiet. Our team shuttles you upstream so you just drop in and let the current bring you back. Pack a dry bag with a snack and your phone, wear water shoes you don't mind hiking in, and aim to wrap by lunch.

From there it's a short hop to the Silver Comet Trail, 60+ miles of paved, mostly flat path through Northwest Georgia woods. Bring bikes if you've got them, or just stretch your legs for an hour.

Cap it off with a dip back in the creek and dinner under the pavilion. Best kind of summer day there is.

☀️ Summer on Big Cedar Creek is everything we hoped it would be — and it's just getting started. 🛶

Over Memorial Day weekend, 35 paddlers hit the water at Cedar Creek RV & Outdoor Center in Cave Spring, Georgia. Kayaks lined up at the put-in, families floating the shaded stretch below, bream coming off the bank, and 18 bags of ice flying out of the camp store. That's a summer weekend done right.

The creek is still running clear and cool, the camp store is restocked, and there are sites available all summer long. Whether you're paddling, fishing, tubing, or just pulling up a chair by the water — Cedar Creek is ready for you. 🎣

RV sites, tent camping, and the Bird's Nest Lodge are all open for the season. Less than 90 minutes from metro Atlanta and tucked into a quiet corner of Northwest Georgia, it's the kind of getaway that's easier to get to than you think.
