VR Kids

VR Kids VR Kids is the children’s ministry at Valley Ranch Baptist Church. We get pretty excited to equip children (and parents) to begin the lifelong journey of following Jesus Christ, to love God wholeheartedly and others unselfishly.

Family Activity!

Gather some 100% pure juice that your children love to drink and some other liquid and powdered ingredients that you can spare. Examples: coffee grounds, tea leaves or grounds, powdered drink mix, pepper, salt, powdered herbs, milk, salsa, marinara sauce, jelly or preserves, syrup, tabasco sauce. Have the entire family taste the pure juice. Tell them that this juice is pure and delicious just like it is, but what if we start adding things to it?

Then, in a clear glass have family members start adding the other ingredients to the juice until it is a gross and disgusting mixture.

Tell your family that just like this drink was tastier and better for you when it was pure, our lives will be better when we are pure. We can be pure by making sure that we don’t mix into our lives bad things that God doesn’t want us to do and that we do mix in the good things that God does want us to do.

Some of the good ingredients that God wants us to mix in our lives every day are praying and reading the Bible. God also wants us to worship Him at church every week and share about Him to our friends. These actions help us to be pure and hear from God about other things that He wants us to do. Any activity that would interfere with us doing these things every day, is something we need to avoid or do at a time when it won’t stop us from doing these things.

Talk with your family about ways that you can all help each other to keep your lives pure by choosing to do what God wants and not letting anything interfere with praying and reading the Bible every day, and going to church each we

According to God’s rules none of us can go to Heaven because we all have failed to follow God’s rules, but God showed us mercy through Jesus, even though we didn’t deserve it. Jesus wants us to be merciful to others, like He was merciful to us. When people make mistakes or hurt us, we shouldn’t treat them harshly, but show them mercy.

✨Family Activity. ✨
Challenge your children to play a game with you that you should be able to do fairly easily but they will almost surely fail.

Examples are: a standing jump from one line to another, jumping up and touching something high up, or (for younger children) balancing something on one finger.

Keep showing them mercy by giving them another chance, and after that, either by adjusting the challenge so that it is easier for them to do or assisting them with the challenge.

For the standing jump you could move the lines closer or pull/lift your child by the hands to help him or her jump farther.

For the jumping challenge you could lower the object you are jumping for or lift your child to help him or her jump higher.

For the balancing challenge you could allow your child to use his or her flat hand to balance the item instead of just one finger.

After the challenge ask your children how they would have felt if you would have yelled at them or been mean to them for failing the challenge.

Ask them if they were glad that you helped them and gave them a second chance instead of yelling and being mean to them.

Point out to your children that they failed the challenge according to the rules, but that you treated them with mercy instead of treating them harshly.

VRBC Women's Ministry

This event is being moved to the Fall. If you have already signed up, we will contact you to see if you’d like to transfer your registration.

Ladies, join the REAL Women's Ministry and guest speaker Lisa M Hancock, M.A., as we learn more about the woman God made you to be through participating in an Enneagram Workshop. The Enneagram is a personality typing system that can profoundly deepen your understanding of and love for yourself, others, and God. Many Christians have found that the Enneagram, like personality tests and spiritual gift inventories, can provide a helpful perspective on seeing how God has "wired" us and how we can best serve God and love others well.

More than just new information about your personality, the Enneagram can open up powerful possibilities for deep spiritual transformation, and can assist in our walk with God, enable our true and best self to emerge, and can change the way we relate to others. We hope you will join us!

Have a “That’s Not Fair” Art Fair with your family.

Have each family member make an art project to show a situation that he or she thinks is unfair. It must be a situation that is unfair for someone else, not for yourself. The art project itself could be anything. It could be a photo-collage, a painting, a sculpture, a movie, or any other type of art project.

Have family members help each other come up with ways to stand up for those people and help the situation. For example, if another kid is being made fun of at school, your child could be a friend to the kid being teased, notify the teachers, tell the other kids to stop, and pray for all the people affected.

It is one thing to stand up and say something is not fair when it affects us, but something else to stand up when something is unfair that affects other people. Even if we can’t do anything else, we can always be a friend to people in bad situations and show God’s love to them. (Altitude - Family Activity)

My kids love Rhett & Link's Ear Biscuits podcast, but a recent episode where the hosts deconstruct their faith really rocked their worlds. How should youth leaders respond when these things happen?

This I Believe!

🎶✨Singing can help us remember words!!
“Ever notice how easy it is to recall hymns you sang growing up — or a TV jingle from the eighties, nursery rhymes, Christmas carols, or pop songs that you learned as a teenager? Do you ever find yourself singing along to a song you hadn’t heard for twenty years?

In Deuteronomy 31, God himself used music to help his people remember his words. As Israel was about to enter the Promised Land, God instructed Moses to teach Israel a song so that “when many evils and troubles have come upon them, this song shall confront them as a witness (for it will live unforgotten in the mouths of their offspring)” (Deuteronomy 31:21). Singing can help us remember words.”

Another great morning in Kids Worship! ✨The children learned that when we face difficulties, we can and should look to God for comfort.

The Bible verse of today’s lesson says “God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” To mourn means to be very sad, and God promises that we will be comforted.

That’s a great promise to us from God! Remind your kids that whenever we feel down, or need to be comforted, we should turn to God by praying and reading His Word.

Encourage your kids to come next week and to bring a friend!😊🙌🏻

Welcoming a New Year brings a sense of hope and resolution for a promising year to come. So it’s a great time to set short-term or long- term goals with your kids.

Goal setting for children is important because it gives them a sense of purpose that can improve their confidence and build their self-esteem. It also helps them to focus and make better decisions.

Remember! God has a HUGE vision for you and your kids’ lives. He has plans to prosper them and not to harm them, plans that give them a future and hope. (Jeremiah 29:11)

Here’s an example of a process which can be easily replicated:

✨It’s time to bring the Offerings Containers back!✨

The PRICELESS OFFERING will be coming to a close this Sunday, January 12th.

Your child will have the opportunity to turn in their offering containers in these locations:
1. Elementary kids will be turning in their offering during their worship time in The Ranch.
2. Preschool kids will turn in their containers in their classroom.

This money will enable our church to multiply Kingdom-building ministries in our church, city & world.

Thank you for your participation!

“Disciples of Jesus listen and obey!”

Today we talked about the Parable of the Wise and the Foolish Builder, in Matthew 7:24–27.

Many times we hear what God wants us to do, but we don’t do it. It’s very important that we obey and actually do what we learn from the Bible and from church. If we don’t, we’re just like the foolish builder that built on the sand. We can’t just listen to what God wants us to do, we need to listen and obey what He tells us to do!

Share today’s main point with your kids to help them to remember what they learned at church this morning. 😊

The PRICEless Offering is a call to give sacrificially and live invitationally, for our unified budget to allow VRBC to launch new and expand existing ministries to more effectively make disciples in our church, community, and world. This offering allows VRBC to multiply Kingdom-building ministries by engaging in the following efforts:

Planting reproducing churches
Reaching the lost
Investing in the next generation
Caring for those in need
Equipping our people

The PRICEless offering will continue through January 12.

Please join us in praying that God will unleash a spirit of generosity among us that will result in more glory to Jesus and more lives transformed by the gospel!

You can participate in the PRICEless offering by visiting vrbc.net/give, giving through the VRBC app, or with the PRICEless envelopes in a worship service.
