Sorry to announce that another one of our local venues has been cancelled for this year due to the pandemic. See you in 2021!
It is with heavy hearts that we will be canceling the 2020 Coopersburg Halloween Parade. Although a one day event, this parade takes months of planning and preparation so we couldn’t wait any longer to make our decision. As COVID-19 cases continue to rise and guidelines and regulations continue to change, it is unknown how we will be affected by the pandemic in October when we always hold the parade. Please know that we considered all options before deciding to completely cancel. But with crowds growing every year along Main Street and entry groups packed tightly into the very small formation streets, there is no solution to keeping everyone at a safe distance to stop the spread of this disease. We know this is a fun community event that is enjoyed by so many, but health and safety are our top priority.
We also want to take this time to announce that we are dissolving our current parade committee; Parade Chairman John Marshall is stepping down from his volunteer position after 29 years, along with most of the other committee members. With many new life changes including moving out of town and the birth of new babies and grandbabies, the cancelation of the parade this year offers the perfect, yet bittersweet opportunity to retire from their involvement in the parade.
With that being said, the Coopersburg Halloween Parade can not continue in future years without members of our community volunteering to help organize it. If any individuals or organizations would like to form a new parade committee, please contact Borough Hall at 610-282-3307. Or you can contact former Chairman John Marshall at 610-704-0108. We hope this tradition will be carried on for many more years to come.
