This is becoming a major issue more than it ever has before. But now you have mechanics crying on every post possible about pay this pay that. But I keep getting vehicles in my shop with crappy quality work like this. You cannot have it both ways. You canāt be slow, inefficient, have a bad attitude and do crappy work and think you deserve 100-150k just because you have to buy tools. Itās such a lame excuse honestly.
EDIT: I have been and still advocate for techs every single week. Talking about techs needing to be treated better and if the shop/dealership is horrible then you should leave. Iāve made 50Xās the videos holding owners and leaderships feet to the fire saying they need to take the first step in making this industry better. They should be paying for more tools, equipment, benefits, charging more so they can take care of their techs and talking about value in this industry and charging out worth. I literally preach almost daily that āthereās always someone willing to do it cheaperā I make a post asking for some accountability for quality work from my fellow mechanics and the response is āblame anything and anyone elseā except take some accountability and pride in your work. Owners arenāt looking for perfection but my goodness this is a wild response across platforms. The truth stands. You cannot go to work with a horrible attitude, put out garbage work be inefficient and have comebacks and want top pay and benefits. Find a place that values you.
Now I know I edited this and once again said OWNERS need to take the first step because I truly believe that. But someone will skip the first part of me saying that and go straight to the part where techs need to holds themselves accountable and view it as a negative.
