Had a customer come in last week who used to work as an insurance adjuster. She knew the industry inside and out — how shops price things, how repairs get evaluated, all of it.

She’d already gotten a quote somewhere else: $300 to fix her dent. Didn’t pull the trigger.

She came to us instead. Our estimate was over $700 — more than double.

She said “let’s schedule it” before I even finished talking.

Summer of 2006. I bought my first set of PDR tools and started working them into my collision repair jobs - figuring it out panel by panel, one dent at a time.
20 years later, that's turned into Columbia Dent Company. A real shop. A climate-controlled facility. A trade I've spent two decades getting better at, one car at a time.

They told him to go to a body shop.
He drove 4 hours anyway.
His car — a pearl white three-stage paint — had a dent that every shop near him turned down. One offered to “make it better” for $450, with a warning it wouldn’t be perfect and they’d need to drill a hole. He passed.
He didn’t want his car painted. He didn’t want a door replaced. He didn’t want “better.” He wanted it fixed.
We fixed it.
When he saw the result, he was speechless. The damage was gone. His original paint, untouched.
Some repairs require more than tools — they require the experience to know what’s actually possible, and the skill to back it up.

🔧 PDR on a Mercedes-Benz? Yes. And Here’s Why It’s the Right Call.
Most people don’t know that paintless dent repair and Mercedes-Benz have a longer history together than they think.
PDR was actually pioneered in the 1960s by Oskar Flaig, a craftsman who worked for Mercedes-Benz in Germany. The technique was developed specifically to fix minor damage on high-end vehicles without compromising the factory finish. Mercedes was one of the first manufacturers to recognize that the paint itself — not just the metal — was worth protecting.
Fast forward to today, and nothing’s changed on that front.
Here at Columbia Dent Company, we work on Mercedes regularly — sedans, SUVs, AMG packages, all of it. These cars have excellent steel and aluminum panels that respond well to PDR when the damage is in the right range. No filler. No repainting. No breaking the factory seal on your finish.

November Hailstorm Damage: What We're Seeing Downtown

We're showing you the hidden hail damage from the November 17th hailstorm that affected the downtown Columbia area, including Columbia College and the Arcade District. We inspect an Honda HRV that appears fine at first glance but reveals hundreds of tiny dents when examined with proper lighting. We explain what to look for, we are seeing damage estimates ranging from $5,000-$7,000, and invite viewers to bring their vehicles in for inspection if they suspect similar damage.
