Hey guys! As some of you might have noticed, it's been a hot minute since I last posted. Unfortunately, this will be the last one (for now) as I am no longer making custom emblems as a service. This isn't due to single factor, instead I simply got burnt out. Any small business owner can tell you that being a one man workshop can be a hard grind, and it's especially true when your specialty is niche custom fabrication.
This page started because as a MK4 GLX owner, I wanted a GLI style grille badge for my car that said "GLX" (something Volkswagen never did). Little did I know this would lead to the discovery that people were having to pay steep prices for OEM GLI grille badges (at the time, $250~ was the average going price for one in decent condition) and had no alternative aside from temu reps that weren't even in the right style. This led me to decide to offer replicas to the community, at an affordable price. The first ones I made were ROUGH, but over time and with community support I eventually hit a point where my replicas were nearly identical to OEM badges, and I was able to start having fun with different unique designs. Despite making improvements over time, I kept the price the same and offered free warranties.
It was fun for a time, but combined with the intensive fabrication process, constant free 3D modeling requests, and other issues that come with selling custom products online, I eventually found myself hoping orders would stop because I simply no longer enjoyed making them. My sell price felt too low compared to the work I was putting in, but I didn't want to raise prices either. So I simply stopped.
If there's anything I'm thankful for, it's the stories I got to be apart of with cars and their owners. There's a lot of you that care deeply for your rides, and I'm happy I was able to help many of you express that.
