College Place Dream Lab

College Place Dream Lab The College Place Dream Lab is a career technology engineering course were students are involved in every step of a professional business!

Sales and marketing, running a CNC machine, 3D design these are all things and students are learning to do at the College Place Dream Labs, a career technology education class. Students are learning through a fully functioning business the two most valuable skills in the work world, critical thinking and problem solving. Students in the first year learn problem solving through building and designi

ng their own DC motor, while learning 3D design, and later combine their problem solving and 3D design skills to build a custom project. The second-year students dive into the business side of the Dream Lab. Students take on roles including QA/QC, sales and marketing, operations, general marketing, and technology. Depending on these roles students learn specific tasks like running the plasma cutter or becoming an expert in Photoshop. Business priorities drive day to day action to meet deadlines. Students use all the skills they have learned to be involved in every step of creating a product, from initial customer interaction to presentation of final product.

Here is a finished stage for Walla Walla Camber Music Festival. We have finished 5 of the 6 stages. The students working on this project glued a dark vinyl to the top of the stage with stained trim on the outside. That gives the stages a professionally finished look. The challenges that came with this project. Gave the students the opportunity to plan out the best way to support heavy weight. While keeping the stages under 120lbs.

Here is one of our latest projects. We know you haven't heard from us in awhile, so we wanted to give you an update on what were doing! We are building 6 portable stages for the Walla Walla Camber Music Festival. These photos show the stage prototype frame. The team behind the construction of the frame gained new skills, knowledge, and insight on how to make it better. Update on our wine barrel projects. The first two pictures are a new item we are building and should finish in a couple of days. It will be a small (8-10 bottle) wine barrel rack with an area for 4-6 wine glasses. We are still working on the wine barrel tables and expect to complete them shortly as well. If either of these products interests you please contact us @gmail.com. Or, if you have an idea for a project, we would be excited to chat with you about a custom order.

In these photos we have a wine barrel that has been cut in half. With each half barrel we are planning to make coffee tables. It's an interesting project with many little opportunities to learn (sometimes redo). We hope to sell these at the Walla Walla Farmer's Market late in May to early June.. Currently we are in the process of staining the barrels and building a base for each tables, before moving on to the table top portion of the assembly.

In these photos we have CPHS water bottles that we engraved with the names of several Japanese students who visited our school. The students were from a town called Sasayama which is the sister city to Walla Walla!

In this video we have a wine bottle that was engraved on our laser. We used the rotary attachment to rotate the bottle during the engraving process. The design is a silhouette of trees wrapping all the way around the bottle, with customized text wrapping around as well.

This photo shows one of our most recent projects. This is a piece of polished glass that measures 2 feet in diameter, with a Bible verse engraved on it with our laser. The run time for this project on the laser was over 5 hours! We went back and forth with the customer to design this to their specification, and it turned out wonderful!
