THINK SPRING!!!!! If you live in a rural area filled with farm fields, this message is for YOU!
Farm machinery is once again on the move as we enter spring planting season. Please make every effort to leave 10 minutes earlier for every trip you'll take just in case you have to patiently follow a piece of machinery. We farmers don't mean to inconvenience you at all. We will pull over or off the road as soon as we find a safe place to do so. Please don't pass us unless we let you. You can't see 100% around us, you can't know what field or farm we are going to exit the roadway into, you can't possibly know what oncoming traffic may be close....please sit back, enjoy the views, count the many blessings of living in farm country instead of counting the minutes that you'll be late, and be sure to BRAG (if you're late) that you chose to be safe and follow farm machinery instead of brazenly pass it and risk causing an accident. I don't know of any boss or supervisor who won't appreciate it when you phrase tardiness that way ;)
also please be on the lookout for other equipment besides tractors and tillage pieces or planters.....keep an eye out for sprayers that are applying liquid fertilizer on fields that have been planted, service tech vehicles that may be looking for the machine they're supposed to fix for the farmer, and pickup trucks with seed and supplies, or the farmer's family looking to bring a hot meal and squeeze some family time in the midst of busy planting season!
I've made countless posts over the years about watching out for farm machinery and the like, but the power is in the hands of the driving public...only you folks have the ability to make sure today is just another day instead of being a fateful one that lasts forever in someone's memories...
