◇ The 1969 Pontiac Farago CF 428 is a one off prototype commissioned by John DeLorean, then head of Pontiac, and designed by his friend, the Italian American engineer and designer Paul Farago. The letters CF stand for Coggiola and Farago. It was built in Italy by the coachbuilder Carrozzeria Coggiola as a styling exercise to launch the firm.
◇ The car combines distinct European GT styling with raw American muscle. It features a Pontiac Grand Prix chassis and a massive 428 cubic inch V8 engine producing roughly 390 horsepower. The car is beautiful. It is also powerful. A blend of Italian design and American engineering.
◇ The Farago CF 428 is a piece of automotive history. A car that could have been. A car that was never produced. A reminder that the best designs are not always the ones that make it to production. Sometimes they are the ones that inspire.
