I’m excited to share that Jeep is joining us at TrailRecon Summit 5!

Friday night, we’ll gather for Ask Jeep a special dinner and conversation with Scott Brown and the Jeep & Mopar team, with dinner hosted by Jeep and Mopar. It’s a chance to bring your questions and connect with the team after a day on the trails.

I’ve traveled through British Columbia twice on my way to the Arctic, and after spending an entire week exploring there with Shaun The Story Till Now , it’s become one of my favorite places.

The forest roads winding through the mountains and endless rivers and lakes make you want to slow down and soak it all in.

I’m heading out to the desert this weekend with the Bonnie D and ST5 Patriot Campers now that the temperatures have dropped, but I’m already thinking about when I can get back to BC.

Regena has been nudging me for months to try something a little different with all the scenery footage from our travels. We finally gave it a shot, and she loves it!

I put together more than three hours of footage from my Alaska trip with gentle acoustic music, longer scenic shots, and some slow motion. Mountains, glaciers, rivers, forests, and a little peaceful Jeep travel.

This is a different pace from a typical TrailRecon video. It’s something you can put on the TV and let play while you unwind.
I’m sharing it on my other YouTube channel, Brad Kowitz Off-Grid, and I’d really appreciate your honest feedback. Does the music fit? How’s the pacing? Would you enjoy more of these from other trips?

It’s been pretty cool watching Recon One evolve.

When I first brought it home, I wanted to spend some time with it completely stock and really get to know it before I started changing things. I was impressed right away and it was more fun than I expected wheeling it in stock form.

Then came the first upgrades, a little more capability, a little more protection, better tires, some aesthetic upgrades to personalize it and every phase seemed to reveal just how much potential this thing had.

From the beginning, the whole idea behind Recon One was to build it in stages so I could actually show how each upgrade changed and improved the Jeep. This was never intended to be a budget build, and the end goal was always to eventually push it toward a pretty extreme rock crawler… I just didn’t want to skip all the interesting steps along the way.

I kept expecting to find the point where the added weight, bigger tires or modifications started taking away from what I liked about it… that really hasn’t happened.

Each phase of Recon One has been a little more capable than the last, while still being a vehicle I genuinely enjoy driving on and off-road.

These five photos take it from stock to the last version before I decided to take a considerably bigger swing at it. Two days ago, Recon One entered its next phase: new lift, 40s… and a whole different attitude. I haven’t shown you that version yet.
