Schirmer's Garage Give us a call and ask for Bill, Ron, Jim or Kyle Schirmer's Garage is a family owned and operated business. We have been servicing the automotive needs of Oakley for over fifty years and still running strong.

The business was started by three brothers(Frank, Vince and Joe) after returning from the Korean war. Business flourished as the brothers put to use their automotive skills. After Frank and Joe retired Vince continued on, and eventually turned the business over to his son Bill who is still running the business as his father and uncles did before him. Top 3 Questions: 1.) Can I drop my car off at night? Yes there is a drop off box, park your car anywhere on the lot, and leave your keys in the box left of the door. Pay by phone and pick your vehicle up after hours. 2.) who is working on my car? Only Schirmer mechanics. We run our shop in Mark Sweeney's shop. 3.) I avoided the dealership because the prices are high? We use the same Schirmer pricing. Mark Sweeney offers our customers coupons. You can now get an oil change for $19.00. Ask Jim Toon for a coupon.

Schirmer's Garage is moving. Schirmer's will be moving to the corner of Ridge and Highland behind Wendys. We will be working with the Mark Sweeney Service Department. Nothing will change but our location. The same phone number, 513-631-4455, and the same service and pricing.Just like Schirmer's Garage, you blow the horn, the door goe's up, and you will be greeted by Jim, Bill, and the crew. We look forward to continuing the Schirmer's tradition where you are treated like a friend not a number.

Back in the 60's, 70's, and 80's, Vince Schirmer would make sure the flag was up on Oakley Square. The flag pole was removed during the streetscape renovation, and never put back until recently. Please join us on Saturday December, 12 at 10:00 A.M. on the Oakley Square. There will be a flag pole dedication, and Vince will once again raise the flag.

Let it be known, let it be said. All the gossip about where will we get our cars repaired if Schirmer's Garage sells the property and closes. Did you know that since the year 2000 most automobiles use a cabin air filter? You usually change your filter in your home furnace, why not change your cabin air filter in your car? It will make your air conditioning feel 10 times colder. Schirmers Garage would be happy to check it for free.

When you get in your car today, turn on your air conditioner. If it works, you'll smile and be happy. If it doesn't work, you'll still smile and be happy to know that Schirmers garage can fix it.

What doe's your manual say about

Brake fluid
Steering fluid
Fluids deplete, so change your oil every 3-5 thousand miles.

When the thermostat drops, we start wearing coats to protect ourselves from the cold, but most people don't realize that their vehicles also need some extra protection during the winter. A few quick steps are all it takes to help your vehicle perform its best this winter.

"The thought of a breakdown, an engine not starting or otherwise being stranded is stressful as it is, but those things happening in freezing winter weather adds another level of threat," said Rich White, executive director, Car Care Council, an automotive consumer education group. "An investment of an hour or so to have your vehicle checked is all it takes to have peace of mind and help avoid the cost and stress of a breakdown during the harsh weather."

Battery Very cold temperatures will reduce a vehicle's battery power so it's important to keep the connections clean, tight and corrosion-free. If your vehicle's battery is more than three years old, it's wise to replace it.

Antifreeze The mixture of antifreeze (coolant) and water inside your vehicle's radiator is typically 50:50. Don't make the mistake of adding 100 percent antifreeze. Coolant should be flushed and refilled at least every two years in most vehicles.

Oil The Car Care Council recommends changing to low-viscosity oil in winter, as it will flow more easily between moving parts when cold. Drivers in sub-zero driving temperatures should drop their oil weight from 10-W30 to 5-W30 as thickened oil can make it hard to start the car.
