1983 Honda VF750F for a customer in Idaho. This is the 3rd bike I’ve painted for him, I also just finished up his red/white 1983 VF750F for him, as well. Diablo Cycles provided the decal kit, ColorRite provided the paint. Unlike the factory bike, all of the decals on all of these parts, have two coats of clear underneath them and four coats of clear over the top of them, ensuring that they stay good looking for a long time!

I’m painting this 1984 GPZ1100 for a customer whom I’ve painted at least a couple bikes for before. The gas tanks for these are hard to find. This one came from Germany. This tank was a mess, inside and out. In addition to so many paint layers it was probably 1/16” thick, the inside of the tank was rusty and varnished, with a thick flake/scale layer down in the bottom, across both sides. There are lots of different ways to clean tanks, and I’ve tried about all of them. Knowing full well that this one was going to need to be sealed when it was done, I wanted to make sure it was clean inside. The convoluted shape of this tank doesn’t lend itself well to being able to inspect the work inside the tank, so a more dramatic approach was required. 1974 Harley Z90. Fun little project. I’ve now painted 3 or 4 bikes for this customer from Wisconsin. See this tank (along with other display pieces I’ll have in my booth) at the Barber Vintage Festival in Birmingham, Alabama in early October. If you enjoy vintage motorcycles, and you have not been to that facility and that show, you don’t know what you’re missing!
