Congratulations to Holman on completing this once-in-a-lifetime acquisition of LeithCars. The addition of Leith, one of the most well-regarded family-owned dealership groups in the country, will undoubtedly continue Holman’s 100-year legacy of success in auto retail. This transaction reflects the continuation of auto retail’s accelerated consolidation trend, kicked off by the industry’s capital inflows during the pandemic. We should expect to see more regional consolidation, particularly in high growth markets, as top auto retail consolidators seek to dominate these attractive markets.

The 10 dealerships with 17 new-vehicle franchises will grow Asbury's luxury revenue mix to about 50 percent from 33 percent. Asbury said the acquisition is expected to add $1.9 billion in annualized revenues.

Hulman & Co. is selling the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and IndyCar, North America's top open-wheel racing league, to Penske Entertainment Corp. A news conference has been scheduled for 11 a.m. at the famed racetrack, home of the Indianapolis 500 and Brickyard 400.

Recent changes in California could mean long-overdue rate increases across the country as dealers will now be able to charge retail rates for manufacturer warranty repairs.

“Existing law requires a franchisor to fairly compensate for labor and parts used to fulfill warranty obligations. This bill would instead require a franchisor to reimburse a franchisee according to a retail labor rate and retail parts rate established by each franchisee. The bill would prescribe the method by which a franchisee may establish or alter those reimbursement rates and would require the board to resolve any disputes regarding the calculation of those rates....”
