🏁 Fact Friday: different axle speeds, one clever piece of math.

Yesterday’s answer was C — 750 RPM. ✅

In a conventional open differential with equal side gears, the carrier turns at the average of the two axle speeds. ⚙️

With the carrier at 600 RPM and the left axle at 450 RPM, the right axle must turn at:

(2 × 600) − 450 = 750 RPM

Check it: averaging 450 and 750 gives us 600. That speed difference is part of what lets the wheels turn at different speeds through a corner. 🏎️

Yesterday’s brake-rotor question was all about what you can’t easily see from the outside. On a directional, curved-vane rotor, the internal vanes are designed to move cooling air through the disc.

Put those left and right rotors on the wrong sides and that designed airflow can be reduced—even if the surface slots look fine. So the answer was A — the internal vanes move less cooling air. 🔧💨
