I came across this statement recently, and I really like it.

"People don't quit jobs. They quit toxic cultures, micromanagers, burnout schedules, lack of growth, and the feeling of being undervalued."

Simple words, but there is a lot of truth behind them.

Over the years, I've come to realise that when someone hands in their resignation, it is rarely just about the job.
More often than not, it is about how they feel inside the organisation whether they feel trusted, respected, appreciated, and given the space to grow.

Every resignation tells a story. Sometimes it is a story about poor leadership, sometimes about a culture that has lost its way, and sometimes about people who no longer feel they matter.

l've seen first-hand how a positive culture can completely change an organisation. When people are trusted, encouraged and treated with respect, they don't just turn up for work; they bring their ideas, energy and commitment with them.

But it works the other way too. A workplace filled with unnecessary control, constant pressure and little appreciation can slowly take the wind out of even the most dedicated people.

At the end of the day, leadership is not about having power over people. It is about creating the right environment for people to succeed. Look after your people, build the right culture, and they will help build the future of your organisation.

Leadership is not a position above the team—it is a responsibility within it.

The most effective leaders understand that proximity matters. Not just visibility, but participation. They are not removed from the work, they understand it, support it, and step into it when needed. Being "part of the team" is not about lowering standards or avoiding accountability. It is about credibility.

Credibility is built when leaders:
-Understand the realities of the work, not just the outcomes
-Remove barriers instead of issuing directives from a distance
-Share ownership of challenges, not just success
-Hold the same standards they expect from others.

When leaders operate above the team, a gap forms-between expectation and ex*****on, between direction and reality. That gap is where disengagement, frustration, and inefficiency take hold.

When leaders operate within the team, alignment strengthens. Communication improves. Trust accelerates.

This does not mean leading by consensus. It means leading with context, awareness, and respect for the people doing the work.
Because people don't follow titles, they follow leaders who understand what they're asking of them.

And that understanding only comes from being close enough to see it clearly.

Great leadership isn’t about being in every meeting, every thread, or approving every decision. And it’s not about having all the answers. It’s about what happens *without you*.

To me, that's the real test of leadership maturity.

Because the best work doesn’t need micromanagement - it needs empowerment and systems.
-> To make progress visible.
-> To run without 99 check-ins.
-> To create alignment by default, not by brute force.

Park Inc is proud to be partnered again with the Credit One Stadium for the 2026 Credit One Charleston Open WTA tennis tournament on Daniel Island, SC. Such a fantastic venue and unbelievable guest experience throughout the campus for all ages!

Every year, new amenities and immersive experiences are added on top of the already world class tennis matches, it’s getting harder to take in all the tournament play with as much going on outside the stadium as there is inside.
