Bullring Sunday Roars to Life at Coles County Speedway; Doyle Headlines Opening Night Winners
MATTOON, Ill. (June 7, 2026) — A new tradition was born Sunday night at Coles County Speedway, and the fans who packed the "Baddest Bullring on the Planet" were treated to a fast-paced evening of racing as the inaugural Bullring Sunday took the green flag.
With five divisions in action and a beautiful evening over the historic quarter-mile, drivers battled wheel-to-wheel to become the first winners of the new Sunday night program.
Doyle Dominates Modified Main Event
The DIRTcar UMP Modifieds headlined the evening with 13 competitors taking the green. Brayden Doyle proved to be the class of the field all night long. After setting quick time with an 11.077-second lap and capturing his heat race, Doyle powered his No. 2 machine to victory in the 20-lap feature.
Jeremy Nichols brought his No. 01 home second after winning the Lethal Chassis Heat Race, while Kasey Schrock completed the podium. Noah Sugg and Deece Schwartz rounded out the top five.
Schwartz Pulls Double Duty
After recording a top-five finish in the Modified feature, Deece Schwartz climbed behind the wheel of his Limited Modified and put together a stellar performance. Schwartz topped qualifying, won his heat race, and then drove to victory in the 15-lap feature to cap off an impressive double-duty evening.
Ed Roley finished second, followed by JD Evans, Carter Standerfer, and Brady Collins.
Ballinger Best in Stock Cars
Kade Ballinger completed a clean sweep in DIRTcar Stock Car competition. After winning his heat race, Ballinger led the feature to collect the checkered flag ahead of Chuck Mitchell. Carson Reed and Rick Reed followed close behind.
Musillami Masters the Hornets
The Hornets delivered one of the night's most entertaining races as Joseph Musillami held off a determined Ben McChristy to score the feature win. James Trivitt finished third, with Lawrance Schnell and Brooke Trivitt completing the top five.
Doolen Sweeps Pro Late Models
Jacob Doolen enjoyed a perfect evening in the DIRTcar Pro Late Models, winning both the heat race and feature over Adam Gerteisen.
With the first edition of Bullring Sunday now in the books, attention quickly turns to one of the biggest stretches of racing in Coles County Speedway's 70-year history.
This Friday, June 12, the stars and cars of the DIRTcar Racing Summer Nationals Hell Tour make their first-ever appearance at Coles County Speedway alongside the Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals. Fans can expect a blockbuster night featuring some of the biggest names in dirt late model racing battling on the historic Mattoon oval.
The following Friday, June 19, the track's staple divisions return as the National Auto Racing Association NARA-sanctioned Micro Sprints take center stage. The nation's oldest micro sprint track will once again showcase the winged and non-winged stars that have helped build Coles County Speedway's rich legacy for generations.
Then, Bullring Sunday returns on June 21, bringing weekly big-car racing back to the "Baddest Bullring on the Planet" with DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, NARA Limited Modifieds, Pro Late Models, Stock Cars, Hornets, and Crown Vics all back in action.
Three huge events. Three opportunities to experience the excitement. One legendary racetrack.
