2016 Chrysler Town and Country. Lifters were bleeding down causing misfires.

Client attempted doing them on their own. Timing chain rolled on him.

I pulled the timing cover and set the cam timing back in the factory location, installed 24 rocker arms and 24 lifters.

2 year 24000 mile warranty on parts.

The diagnostic process was pretty cool in this one. Too bad pictures of that weren’t taken.

Before the vehicle arrived the client also decided we should do the cam and crank seals while we were at it.

Dealer parts too.

Turned out nice!

This one had the dreaded cam phaser rattle.

Chevy Traverse or Buick Enclave owners. Your vehicle has a potential issue where the cam phasers may lock up, or the chains may jump a tooth or two. So on and so forth.

Some shops will quote these low and only do the chains.

This will not fix the issue.

Replace all of the components with good known components from a reputable vendor.

Dealer quoted this client almost 5-6 grand.

We were 3500 out the door.

Sometimes independent repair facilities do come in clutch on repairs.

Some of us do have a lower overhead in shop cost. Same parts, labor and work.

But accountability is a big thing here.

We can’t fix everything, but we try.

Ford Fusion Sport may look and drive impressive. But they are very time intensive to work on.

In order to reseal the front and rear valve covers on this vehicle, we had to drop the entire subframe down about 3 inches. Ford engineers also thought it would be wise to secure the subframe to the body with studs. Not bolts like everyone else! Therefore you have to drop the whole thing down evenly. Thanks Ford!

Had an Audi Q5 come all the way from Davenport. Dealer told the lady she needed $6500 in timing chains!

Pulled codes out of the ecm and found there were 12 low voltage codes.

Found a blown fuse that powers all of the components throwing circuit low codes.

Vehicle had a bad motor mount. The solenoid popped out and was laying on the subframe, causing an electrical short to ground.

If you ask why do we have solenoids in motor mounts, and how can one blow a fuse? It’s because the engineers can’t design engine that won’t vibrate the whole vehicle anymore. Now they put fluid filled motor mounts with an electric solenoid to “activate or resonate” the fluid. Slowing down vibrations.

2018 BMW X3. The vehicle suddenly developed a coolant leak with no warning at all. The oil filter housing case cracked around the coolant seal, the seal failed, and that was all it took. Turns out, if BMW engineers could make a part out of plastic, they did!

You have to be extra careful when working on these European cars—everything is plastic and incredibly brittle. Look at it the wrong way and it’s broken, and the only place to get the parts right now is from the dealer.

I nearly raised my labor rate after this one. Even though it wasn’t too bad of a job, it pays 7 hours and the parts aren’t cheap.
