Not all regulators are created equally. You would think that there is not much to them… What could go wrong? Well they do fail and you wouldn’t suspect the problems I find would be caused by a bad pressure regulator. Random leaks appear to be just a failed cone washer or a bad T&P safety relief valve. But when all of these appear in a few weeks time I started to wonder about this little brass guy. Just because you have one on the park water hydrant doesn’t mean it’s doing its job. Test these things periodically. A garden hose pressure gauge is a few bucks at a local hardware store. Double check that the regulator is doing its job so you don’t have to pay me to do mine!

I know there is a lot in these pictures to look at but one thing I hope you can spot is the water leak that developed from the hot out pipe that dripped constantly on the heating element relay which eventually corroded and failed. That’s rust on an aluminum tank! You would have had to poke around behind a compartment wall to find the leak, or just call me when the water heater doesn’t work on 120v electricity anymore! 435-572-5187

As the camping season comes to a close in the Duck Creek area, don’t forget to winterize your RV if you leave it behind or can’t move it. That includes: removing batteries (store and charge them in a warmer climate), drain the water heater completely, empty holding tanks, run RV fresh water system antifreeze through the water pump and hot/cold lines, close vents and windows and maybe think about setting rodent traps. This customer had a slow annoying leak from the water fill port. He tried to fix it himself but an important back-flow preventer was bypassed. This was repaired while the customer worked off-site. That’s much better. Corroded terminals can waste a bunch of voltage depending on severity. Sadly, corrosion is second in line to the most common issue I see with terminals, a loose connection.

This customer contacted us to fix a leak on their fresh water holding tank. Unfortunately, bandaid fixes like the one pictured don’t last. Between the weight of the water in the tank and road vibrations and movements it failed. The only real fix is to replace the tank. If you suffer from this problem, give me a call.
