A Flooding We Will Go - it has been too good to be true so far.

I received an updated Taper (projected lake inflows and flooding from the USCOE) and a follow up email... Bottom line, the main jetty will be going under water this weekend without any additional flooding because of rain that hit upstream of us.... and we are expected to get upto 5" of rain mainly over the weekend... and it will be widespread.

As a reminder. We have 4 paddle boats for people to use to get to and from the docks if we are not there and when we are there, our big green boat will be in the water to take people to / from the docks during business hours.

" With recent rainfall upstream, we are expecting the lake level to rise this week and possibly into the weekend. Current taper shows the lake level being above 560.5 by midnight on Friday, June 12. This elevation does not include any additional rain which is in the forecast for this weekend."

Trash and dumpsters..

One of the things we have a hard time understanding is why our customers will stack trash well above the top of one dumpster, when the other, bigger dumpster is only 1/3 full...

We have a crow issue. They feed out of the dumpsters, tearing open bags to get to food, if the lids are not shut. Then trash spreads everywhere.

Please use both dumpsters and if possible, close the lids on the dumpsters after throwing your trash in. Last, all trash should be bagged so that it does not blow out.

Thanks

RV's... how far will 30 amps go.

I have never understood why RV's come in 30 amps (next to nothing) and 50 amps (which is actually 2 x 50 amps = 100amps). It is a struggle for our campers every year when it is hot to not pop breakers and so every year, I make a post that gives an idea as to what things in your camper pull as far as amps go. A 100 watt light bulb pulls 1 amp for example...

Basically you can have
A/C = 15 amps
Electric Hot water tank = 10 amps
3 x 100 watt light bulbs = 3 amps
Phone charger = 2 amps...
You are done... Never turn on a microwave without turning something else off, lol.

You can do things to hep yourself out quite a bit... do not have your hot water tank on electric, run on propane or turn it on only when you need it. Change out your lights to LED's, way less power draw, like 1/10th, per light.

Remember, you have 30 amps total and that is controlled at the main panel, even if you have a 30 amp plug in and a 20amp GFCI. We have had customers plug portable A/C's into the GFCI or electric skillets, thinking that would not count toward the 30 amps... we are just selling 30 amps, not 30 + 20... so at the main panel, everyhing goest thru a 30amp breaker...

Also, you have three breakers in the system...
1st - your main breaker in your RV.
2cnd - the breaker where you plug in.
3rd - the breaker at the main panel.

Each of the breakers has a +/- 10% where it will break - so a 30 amp breaker can break at 27 amp or 33 amps... which will break first is always a toss up. If there is a question, I can open the panel and check your amp draw to verify what you are actually pulling.

Here is a list of amp draws for a number of common items...

RV park water and electric

I got lucky today. I stayed over to work on several things and since I was here, drove thru checking RVs. No a/cs were left on, but I could hear a hiss and found it....

One year we had a customer lose over 44,000 gallons in the 4 days we were gone... We charged it back at $11 a thousand gallons, which is the price we pay for it.

As we get into the summer, water hoses will blow in the heat or a squirrel will eat into it, make sure your water is off if you're not around your camper.

Our biggest cost associated with the RVs is electric by far. Make sure you turn the breaker off on your RV when you're leaving, at the pole. Put a big sticky note on your exit door so that you read it as you leave every time, and you turn off your water and your electric.

In the past it got bad enough that we made everyone unplug everything when they were not here, that way there was no question if it was on or not. The water hose was disconnected and the power cable was unplugged....

I will start randomly checking power and if you're not paying for electric for your ice box, then I will turn off the power at the breaker. And if you have paid to leave your icebox only on, do not leave meat or things that will smell bad if something happens to your power, because it will happen at some point.

Fishing

Like we said, a lot of channel cat are being caught... Fishing with shad west of the docks.

Crappie are still between the bank and docks.

Like our saying on the back of our shirts say this year "Fish all day at Long Bay, results may vary"

Great end to the Memorial Day weekend

05/24/2026

Memorial Day Weekend always kicks off the summer season and after the rain stopped, people came out. Quite a few fish are being caught, everyone is getting their boats out and ready for the summer season. The RV campers are out in force.

We have 3 RV sites open for the summer (people moving to the non transient sites).

We still have a few boat slips available.

A few gentle reminders

Make sure your hang tags are clearly visible.

All guests need to stop to check in and get a temporary pass. Those visiting the RV's will need to pay for a day pass.

Quiet time is 11pm to 7am in the RV park, no driving, being loud, etal.

Ice is still $1 for a 10 lb bag, cheapest in town.

Summer is on... contact us if we can help.

Fishing Update

A lot of channel cats being caught on the bank / in the rocks.

Crappie are being caught in 2ft of water between the jetty and the docks - assuming you can keep the channels off.

Blue cats are staging to the rocks, need to cast out further for them.

No reports on Sand Bass today, but they were catching a lot of them trolling shallow last weekend.

We should have some good weather in between the scattered storms this weekend.

Good Luck everyone.
